A great choice if you are looking for something more spacious than a standard hotel room on the Black Sea coast, especially considering the excellent value for money.
Apartment: The apartment has been freshly renovated, and we were actually the very first guests. The bedroom is spacious, with plenty of room for suitcases. Although a larger building partly blocks the view, the apartment faces the sea, which is a nice bonus. There is also a terrace where you can sit outside. The pull-out sofa in the living room is comfortable for sleeping. The apartment has air conditioning. The open-plan kitchen is well equipped, including a kettle and a coffee machine.
Pool: The apartment is next to Hotel Naslada, and as far as we understood, guests can use its swimming pool free of charge, although we did not try it ourselves.
Parking: We always found a parking space nearby, with easy access to the apartment.
Location: A short walk down the steps takes you to several supermarkets, a rose-themed souvenir shop, a burger place and several excellent restaurants. The seafront itself requires a somewhat longer walk. Balchik is also a good base for exploring the area by car. Aquamania Aquapark in Albena, the Dolphinarium in Varna and Cape Kaliakra to the north are all easy day trips.
The host: Yordan was fantastic. From the moment we booked, we could easily keep in touch with him via WhatsApp and Viber. He personally met us to hand over the keys, and a lovely surprise package was waiting for us in the apartment, including chocolates and soft drinks for the children. During our stay, he regularly checked whether we needed anything. If you want to have breakfast at the neighbouring hotel, he can help arrange it. If you need sunbeds at the beach, he can help with that too. This level of personal attention really made us feel welcome.
These are only minor observations and did not affect our overall experience – the apartment still deserves 10/10 from us.
The apartment was spacious, although it did not quite feel like the advertised 70 m² – perhaps this is simply due to the layout.
The duvet is basically a sheet rather than a traditional duvet, but considering the summer heat, it was perfectly sufficient.
There is no separate shower cabin in the bathroom, so you need to shower a little carefully to avoid getting everything wet. However, this is not unusual in Bulgaria and we encountered similar bathrooms elsewhere.
Overall, Azure Dream Apartment Balchik offers excellent value for money, plenty of space and a fantastic host. Definitely recommended.
