We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Tree of Happiness Izu.
The free shuttle service to Izu-Kogen Station was very convenient and made it easy to use the hotel as a base for exploring the Izu Peninsula. Getting to various attractions was straightforward.
The hosts (a lovely couple) were extremely friendly and provided attentive, thoughtful service throughout our stay. They even prepared the excellent Izu onsen in advance according to our needs, so after a full day of sightseeing we could enjoy a perfect hot spring experience.
The house is located halfway up the mountainside in a quiet Japanese residential area. The peaceful surroundings are ideal if you want to experience authentic local life and escape the hustle of the city.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would happily return. Highly recommended!

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. It is nestled in a villa area halfway up the mountain, housed in a beautiful European-style mansion. The host takes great care of the garden, where succulents, hydrangeas and Chinese roses bloom beautifully. He has also cultivated a small vegetable plot, and the tomatoes served for breakfast are freshly picked from his own garden.
The rooms on the first floor are spacious, with comfortable mattresses and sea views. We had the most restful night since arriving in Japan. The hotel also offers onsen (hot spring) services, a major feature of the Izu region. The breakfast spread is plentiful and satisfying. This stay has inspired me to explore the Izu Peninsula in depth, and I will definitely stay here again on my next visit.
