About this cottage rental
A black-clad cottage on a quiet street, built for groups - the fenced backyard has a wading pool, a hot tub, a fire pit and an outdoor dining table. Four bedrooms sleep twelve on a king and five queens, with two more beds in the converted shed out back. Fifteen minutes on foot to Main Street, ten by car to the wineries on 290.
"Haus In Schwarz" is German for House in Black, named after an art installation by Eric Sturm. The layout is open-concept and built for entertaining - bachelorette weekends and multi-family gatherings are what it does best.
About the pool: it's a rock-and-concrete wading pool, not a tiled swimming pool. Shallow, built for cooling off with a drink in hand rather than doing laps. We clean it and check the pH between every stay. Because of the natural lining, expect a little sand or algae around the edges - that's the finish, not a maintenance problem.
Additional parking is available in the back alley behind the house. The storage shed stays locked.

I booked this property to have my brother's bachelor party and had a fantastic time. The property was everything we needed/wanted and provided the makings of a fun trip. We especially liked the back yard with the hot tub and the pool! The property was very clean and well put together. The owner was also wonderful and very communicative when I had any questions or comments. The surrounding area was really nice, especially Enchanted Rock and the wineries/restaurants in Fredericksburg. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet, comfy, and fun homebase for exploring the Texas Hill Country!

We enjoyed our stay with our adult children and their significant others. One is married and one is engaged, which is why we booked a 4 bedroom home. It is not advertised that the 4 bedroom is not attached to the home without easy access to a bathroom. This was an inconvenience. Other than that everything was as advertised and comfortable.

While the haus location is excellent. The amenities the home has to offer can use updating jacuzzi spa and large fountain pool can use update lighting and replacement. The spa lights, jets and temp sensors were working off and on. Pool has a weird smell. patio furniture needs replacing. While grilling and playing corn hole was enjoyable and birdwatching and stargazing was fun. We were still upset about pool structure and spa use for our visit. As for the inside it’s inviting and cute . The home has one tv and the kitchen stove top is tricky to figure out at first. Home does have a bit of a pest problem we had multiple encounters with roaches . Master bedroom is a hotbox needs an ac unit. Now , we understood why so many box fans were found in hallway closet. The 4th bedroom while is a bonus if retreating with others . Still can be inconvenience for there is no bathroom and tv due to being detached from house.The home furnishings can use some updating as well. Overall, I believe the house has great potential once repairs and replacement are addressed .Would I book again, respectfully NO.
