Forest Cottage is a newly constructed cabin retreat on 5.58 private acres in Livingston Manor, completed in 2024 and designed with thoughtful details, making this cabin in the woods a perfect vacation spot. This one-bedroom, one-bathroom getaway offers modern mountain style, genuine Catskills character, and an outdoor setting that goes well beyond the four walls.



Forest Cottage is tucked away off a country road at the end of a gravel driveway. Inside, pine trim, bead board walls, and wood floors create a warm, cohesive look throughout. The living room is anchored by a Harman high-efficiency pellet stove, ideal for cool mountain evenings. Here, the sofa bed can sleep 2 additional people.



The kitchen is outfitted with wood cabinetry, open shelves, and all the appliances needed to cook a full meal. A combo washer/dryer is tucked neatly into a closet, so extended stays are easy. The bathroom makes a strong impression with a black-framed, glass-enclosed tiled shower and open shelving for storage.



Spiral stairs lead to the upper level, where the bedroom sits beneath the gabled roofline with a queen bed and a home office and reading nook. Natural light filters in through multiple skylights, creating a peaceful retreat, like a comfortable treehouse perched among the pines of the Sullivan Catskills.



Back downstairs, sliding glass doors open from the living room onto an oversized deck with a partial covering overlooking the backyard. It comfortably fits a full dining set alongside lounge seating, and the partial roof means it stays usable even in a summer shower.



The outdoor amenities are where Forest Cottage really shines. An outdoor shower is ready for warm-weather use after a swim. Follow the gravel path through the trees to a fire pit clearing with a picnic table, a classic Catskills setup for evenings under the stars. The property also features a private pond, and a forested ravine leads down to a brook, where guide ropes make it easy to reach the water's edge for wading, exploring, or simply listening to the current.

Livingston Manor has emerged as one of the Catskills' most beloved destinations, drawing food lovers, anglers, and city escapees in search of a peaceful natural setting. Main Street is the heart of it all, lined with standout spots including Kaatskeller for pizza, Sunshine Colony for wine and local bites, Upward Brewing for casual pints, and Main Street Farm and Cafe for stocking up before heading home. Forest Cottage is about 2 hours from New York City and guests can travel around by car as it is a rural area with limited public transportation. The main routes to access the town are NJ Route 17N to NY-17W.



In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.
