The café next door has excellent ice cream, and Bessungen is a good area. Fridge was clean and nice.
The place is a little dingy, not even remotely close to the pics displayed on booking.com. Kitchen area was okayish but nothing to write home about and rather dark. The kitchen sponge supplied had been used by I don't know how many predecessor (yikes). The first mug I took out of the cupboard wasn't particularly clean; I refrained from checking out any further dishes. I couldn't find a toaster, and there was definitely no TV. Bathroom is okay, however, the shower curtain (another yikes) where a glass wall could have been also didn't really do much for me. Showers over 10 minutes can only be taken with cold water as the hot water comes out of an old-fashioned boiler in the kitchen. Toilet flush was somehow defect and kept running intermittently. There was a raw light bulb over the bed (maybe that was a designer item?) and a lamp beside the door which had to be plugged into a socket across; talk about tripping hazards. The wardrobe did not even have handles; you had to open it by gripping one of the doors on top (I am 5.4 ft, so I didn't use the wardrobe).
Everything has been done on the cheap. Cheap equipment, cheap furniture, cheap everything. For the 90 euros I paid per night I could have booked a rather good hotel. I was deceived by the beautiful photos into booking this place instead.
