Welcome to The Olde Sweet Shop—a charming former Irish sweet shop lovingly restored into a warm and character-filled home in the heart of bustling Athboy, the home of Halloween. Whether you're exploring Ireland's Ancient East, enjoying a weekend getaway, or simply looking for a cosy retreat, this unique stay offers comfort, history, and a true taste of Irish hospitality.
Inside you'll find two comfortable bedrooms, a modern shower room, an additional WC, and a beautiful vaulted living space centred around a real wood-burning stove—perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The rustic, shop-inspired kitchen is fully equipped for home-cooked meals, while a collection of books and board games makes for cosy evenings indoors.
Step outside and you're just a two-minute stroll from traditional Irish pubs with regular live music, cafés, restaurants, takeaways, and The Old Darnley Lodge Hotel. Guests also have access to a large shared garden, free on-street parking directly outside, and secure covered parking for motorcycles and bicycles on request.
The Olde Sweet Shop is ideally located for exploring some of Ireland's most famous attractions, including Trim Castle, the Hill of Tara, Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange & Knowth), Loughcrew Megalithic Cairns, and Emerald Park. Dublin city centre and Dublin Airport are both under an hour away by car, with convenient hourly bus connections nearby, making the house an excellent base for discovering Ireland while enjoying the charm of a welcoming country town.
