This place is lovely - don’t hesitate! I was a little worried about booking somewhere with no reviews, but it turned out that I was their very first guest yay :)
The pension is wonderful and beautifully made. The house looks and feels very solid, with lovely woodwork, stone, and high-quality wrought-iron details. It has two floors. On the ground floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen with two cookers, a fridge, coffee machine, toaster, every utensil and dish you could possibly need, as well as tea, coffee, spices, etc. There is also a deluxe bedroom, a toilet and a large living and dining area with a fireplace.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms. Mine had a large bed and a single bed, a table, two chairs, two shelving units, and a bathroom with a shower. I especially loved the heated bathroom floor.
Outside, there are two patios with sturdy garden furniture - tables and benches, as well as a great new grill and a fire pit.
I’m being so descriptive because I could really tell how much heart Zdena, who welcomed me, and Karel, whom she told me about, have put into this house. There are so many little details they have carefully thought of: soft throws for chilly weather, books, board games, firewood, retro dishes that Zdena collects, a welcome drink, ashtrays, super-comfortable outdoor cushions, and much more. It all adds up and makes the place feel very special.
There are also three covered parking spaces. I came by train to Adršpach and then walked for about 40 minutes through the forest and across a meadow. I would definitely recommend this route rather than walking along the road. When you arrive at Adršpach train station, cross the road and enter the forest through the parking lot. Walk through the forest towards "Zdonovske menhiry", from there there is just one path that takes you to Karlik. It’s about 10 minutes uphill, and the rest is downhill
Overall great stay, I wish Zdena and Karel all the best in this new chapter of their lives!
