About this cottage rental
This two-bedroom period cottage has a choice of social spaces, both indoors and outside, and makes a delightful couples’ retreat or base for a small family. Just 1/4 mile from the property, you’ll find an award-winning tearoom, perfect for enjoying a traditional cream tea. The nearby stretch of coastline boasts some of Cornwall’s most picturesque, remote beaches, including Duckpool, Welcombe, and Sandy Mouth, all within 2 miles. Further afield, the vibrant seaside town of Bude is 10 miles away and has a great selection of pubs, cafes, and gift shops to potter around. The town has some fabulous beaches, including the family-friendly Summerleaze Beach with its famous tidal pool. Enjoy walks from the town along the picturesque canal towpath or perhaps hire a rowing boat to get out on the water. Nearby attractions include The Milky Way Adventure Park, the picture-postcard fishing village of Clovelly, and the beautiful Hartland Abbey and Gardens, all within 15 miles.
The whitewashed stone cottage has been lovingly transformed into a truly unique holiday home, carefully combining rustic original features with statement furniture, vibrant soft furnishings, intriguing artwork, and a collection of quirky accessories. At the heart of the home is an inviting lounge with a striking beamed ceiling and a crackling wood burner set in the original stone fireplace. This is the perfect place to unwind after a day at the coast, curled up in one of the armchairs with a book from the extensive collection provided. Also on the ground floor is a cosy snug with subtle lighting and a Smart TV – the ideal spot for a movie night on a winter’s evening. The colourful farmhouse-style kitchen has everything needed to rustle up hearty feasts for the group, which you can share together around the large, wooden table in the dining area. A handy utility room rounds off the ground floor. Upstairs, two beautiful double bedrooms are nestled in the eaves. Both rooms are full of original features and thoughtful little extras to make you feel at home. One bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath, and the second bedroom has an en-suite shower room. Completing the first floor is a little reading nook with a day bed. Please note, due to the age and period of the property, there are low beams, low doorways, and sloping ceilings, meaning you may experience restricted head height in some areas.
Outside, to the side of the property, is an enclosed cottage garden with an array of pretty plants and flowers. On the gravel area is a picnic bench for al fresco entertaining in the summer months, and from here steps lead to a small lawn. The garden enjoys delightful sea views, which can also be appreciated from the cottage itself. A charming summerhouse, complete with tables and chairs, provides a peaceful spot to relax and take in the scenery. To the front of the cottage is a walled seating area, a lovely spot to sit with a morning coffee as you plan your day. Private parking is provided for one car, with plenty of additional parking available by the adjacent village green.
