About this house rental
Breathtaking beauty on a hidden cove with a waterfall and grotto. The five cascading decks situated on a bluff overlooking the Clear Creek branch of Smith Lake will put you in another time, another world. If you are looking for serenity, privacy, and a connection with nature, this is the place for you! Enjoy exploring the rugged coastline and a waterfall walking path. Even at night, the summer fireflies, moon, and stars twinkle and provide an air of magic...
The space
This property sits on a bluff on a quiet portion of Clear Creek with year-round water. It is about 7 miles by boat to Clear Creek Recreational Area and a bit more to the main channel.
It is a gorgeous location for exploring the coastline by kayak or SUP with very little other boat traffic. This place is very private - no neighbor can be seen from anywhere on the property, including all the decks. Deer and other wildlife on the other hand are a common sight here.
The town of Jasper is only a 20-minute drive away with lots of great restaurant selections, local as well as big-name stores, and a Hospital. The property may be explored on foot; we have a short waterfall walk trail on one side which leads to the top portion of the waterfall that empties into the cove. On the other side of the property (path starts on the right side of the garage), you can hike along the base of the bluffs and the shoreline until it dead-ends at the base of Bankhead National Forest (There are no maintained trails here).
The home is a 4/2, but the fourth room is currently empty and will be used in the future as a dedicated office space/arcade room.
Note that there is NO CELL Service at all on the property (ends shortly before the entrance gate), but we do have high-speed fiber internet and wifi throughout most of the property.
Guest access
Guests can use the main house and surrounding decks and property. The cottage and garage are off limits. There is a locked supply closet in one of the guest rooms that is not available for use. The attic is off limits.
Other things to note
Guests are welcome to bring their own water toys, PWCs, and boat. The boat dock currently has an unusable lift that is underwater (and some parts of the lift are on the dock), but a small boat can fit and be tied up, or a larger one could be tied up on the outside.
All bookings require a signed waiver for general release of liability regarding the dock and waterfront usage!
