About this house rental

Escape to 11 private hectares of spectacular Grampians bushland, where mountain views, wildlife and adventure begin at your doorstep. House on the Rock is a beautiful new retreat overlooking Boronia Peak, with the Pinnacle rising behind. Explore your own creek, rocky outcrops and bush trails, spot kangaroos, wallabies and emus, then return to the wood fire or verandah as the sun goes down. Secluded, unforgettable and just minutes from Halls Gap.

There are Halls Gap stays, and then there are places that become part of the reason you came.

House on the Rock is one of those places.

Perched high within 11 hectares of private Grampians bushland, this striking new home gives you space, seclusion and extraordinary scenery while keeping the village of Halls Gap only minutes away.

The setting is the star. Boronia Peak fills the outlook from the living area, while the Pinnacle creates a dramatic backdrop on the opposite side of the property. Immediately outside sits the enormous natural rock that inspired the home's name – just one of many impressive formations scattered across the land.

And you don't have to admire it all from the house.

Step outside and the property becomes yours to discover. Follow the track towards the creek, wander amongst towering rocks, explore secluded pockets of bushland or seek out the trails that wind towards a private lookout. There is a wonderful sense of discovery here, particularly for families and anyone who loves being immersed in nature.

You won't be exploring alone. Kangaroos and wallabies share the surrounding bush, kookaburras make themselves known and emus are often seen strolling through. Sometimes the best moments are simply sitting quietly on the verandah and watching to see what appears.

A beautiful home amongst the bush

Inside, the house is contemporary, warm and designed to make the most of its remarkable surroundings.

Natural timber floors complement the landscape outside, while handcrafted pieces made using timber gathered from the property give the home a character and connection to its setting that you won't find in a conventional holiday house.

At the heart of the home is a welcoming living space where large windows frame the mountain landscape. On cooler Grampians evenings, light the wood fire, settle in and enjoy having nowhere else you need to be.

The well-equipped kitchen makes self-catering easy and includes a coffee machine for slow mornings before heading out to explore.

Outside, the verandah is likely to become one of your favourite places. Cook dinner on the Weber BBQ, relax with a drink and watch the surrounding bush change as afternoon gives way to evening.

Room for six

House on the Rock accommodates up to six guests across three beautifully presented bedrooms:

Master bedroom – King bed and private ensuite

Second bedroom – Queen bed

Third bedroom – Two long single beds

Every bedroom enjoys an outlook to the surrounding landscape, so the connection with the Grampians continues from morning until night.

A modern main bathroom complements the ensuite and makes the home equally suited to a family holiday, a getaway with friends or a relaxing escape for couples.

Secluded, without being remote

What makes House on the Rock particularly special is the balance.

You can wake to birdsong, watch kangaroos outside, spend the morning exploring your own private bushland and feel a world away from everything – yet Halls Gap's cafés, restaurants, shops and attractions are only a short drive away.

Head out for a day of hiking and sightseeing, then leave the crowds behind and retreat to your own piece of the Grampians.

Or don't go anywhere at all.

Make coffee. Wander down to the creek. Explore another trail. Read on the verandah. Light the fire. Watch for emus. Cook dinner outside and finish the day beneath the Grampians sky.

House on the Rock isn't simply somewhere to sleep while visiting Halls Gap. It's somewhere you'll want to spend time making unforgettable memories

Come for the mountains, the wildlife and the freedom of 11 private hectares.

Stay for the peace, the fire, the verandah and those extraordinary views.

Please note that access to the house involves the use of stairs.

Set in natural bushland, the surrounding property has uneven, rocky and steep terrain. Guests should assess whether their mobility and fitness are suitable when exploring the bushland and trails.
