The Space:

For 146 years Hawkins House has stood proudly on these shores, weathering some of Mother Nature’s most severe storms and magical sunsets. Henry’s Hideaway, adds a new chapter to the property’s long family history. Recently built, the bunkie takes its name from original owner Henry Hawkins. Generations later, the name lives on through his great-great-grandson and namesake, Henry, who now enjoys the bunkie when he visits.

You will enter the property through a functional foyer/mudroom and laundry area, as is common in Twillingate. From there you'll enter the heart of the home, a bright living space and open-concept kitchen, with lovely views overlooking the property and ocean. A full bathroom is conveniently located off the living area. Also, on the main floor, you'll find a formal dining room, perfect for family meals. Upstairs, you will find three inviting bedrooms including one with a queen bed, one with a double bed, and one with a single bed. The property also includes a private, detached bunkie, which serves as a fourth bedroom with bunk beds and a dedicated bathroom with a stand up shower. Guests can enjoy the stunning ocean front scenery from the outdoor seating area or take advantage of the immediate beach access. The home is fully equipped for your stay with essential kitchen appliances, linens/towels, laundry facilities, and more.



Guest Access:

Your stay includes private access to the main house, the bunkie, and the full grounds of the property. Guests are welcome to use the direct beach access provided, though please be mindful that the shoreline is public and may be enjoyed by others in the area.

Hawkins House is perfectly situated in Upper Jenkins Cove, a charming area in Durrell, Newfoundland. As part of the vibrant town of Twillingate, this location offers a unique blend of history, coastal beauty, and nearby amenities. You are just minutes away from local attractions, including the beautiful Rockcut Hiking Trails, iceberg/whale boat tours, and a variety of local museums, restaurants, cafes, and shops.



Other Things to Note:

As an older home, please note that the upstairs railings over the staircase are lower than you would find in a modern home. This is just something to be mindful of if you are travelling with small children.
