About this house rental
Laurel Ridge is brand new, and you may be among the first to ever stay here. It sits in Laurel Village inside The Lodges at Eagles Nest, a private gated community high in the Blue Ridge, where the ridgelines run long and blue to the horizon and the air stays cool all summer.
THE GREAT ROOM
Knotty pine runs two stories up to a gabled window wall, carried on stained beams, with a wagon-wheel chandelier hanging over the seating. A stacked fieldstone chimney climbs the far wall with a hewn timber mantel and the TV above it. The sectional seats the whole group, and the glass doors slide straight out to the covered deck.
THE KITCHEN
White quartz, a full-height slab backsplash, and a black apron-front farmhouse sink under the window. A professional five-burner gas cooktop sits beneath a black chimney hood against a stone gable wall, with double wall ovens alongside. Three glass pendants light the island, and the french-door refrigerator has ice and water in the door. Cook a real dinner here.
THE DECKS - TWO LEVELS, BOTH COVERED
The main deck has a honey-stained pine ceiling, a slow black fan, infrared heaters on the wall, and a full stone outdoor fireplace with a raised hearth. Resin wicker seating and swivel chairs face the view. One level down, the hot tub sits under cover on composite decking, with stone steps climbing the hillside behind it.
THE MOVIE ROOM
Downstairs, a black shiplap wall carries an oversized screen above a linear ember fireplace, flanked by vertical sconces. The sectional is deep enough to disappear into. A full shuffleboard table runs along the wall, pucks racked and ready.
THE FIRE PIT
A stacked-stone ring with a stainless smokeless insert anchors the turf lawn, four Adirondack chairs pulled around it. Hardwoods and rhododendron close in on three sides.
SLEEPING
Four bedrooms, three and a half baths, sleeping 8. Two of the bedrooms are king suites. The primary bath has an oversized walk-in shower with a window that lets green light in, a double quartz vanity, and matte black fixtures throughout.
THE COMMUNITY
Eagles Nest is gated, and your stay comes with the run of it: the Great Camp with its amphitheater, BBQ pavilion, mini-golf and playground, the Toy Barn with a 24/7 general store, Epic Chophouse for a night out without leaving the mountain, and the Eagles Nest Winery just up the road in a converted barn with big views and live music on Friday nights. Day passes to the winery run about $25 for guests 16 and up.
GETTING THERE AND AROUND
Beech Mountain Resort is roughly 15 minutes, Sugar Mountain roughly 20. Downtown Banner Elk, Grandfather Mountain, Elk River Falls, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are all easy day trips. Roads are plowed in winter, but 4WD or AWD is required November through March.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
Dogs are welcome for a small fee. The backyard is fully fenced. This is a brand-new home in a growing community, so you may see or hear construction on nearby lots during the day. There are stairs, inside and out, including to reach the hot tub.
