Behind the cheerful yellow clapboard and the home's original 1950s brick fireplace, you'll find a bright, laid-back retreat that comfortably sleeps up to 14 guests across two king beds, two queen beds, and a twin bunk, foldable bed, and crib. Both bathrooms have been fully updated with contemporary electric smart toilets, complete with heated seats, auto-open, and built-in bidet functions — a small luxury guests always remember.

We didn't stop at the bedrooms. Our garage has been transformed into a fully insulated, air-conditioned game room with two arcade games, a mixed game table, a stationary bike, and a tournament-grade dartboard with electronic scoring. The living room hides a full-size Joola table tennis table (it folds away in minutes if you need the floor space) alongside a plush Rove Concept sofa bed that unzips into a near-king bed, all facing an 86-inch 4K TV with a PS5 available on request. There's a red yoga sofa and loveseat tucked into the game room too which can be converted to twin, for anyone who wants a quiet stretch or morning coffee away from the group.

Step outside and the real showstopper is waiting: our 9,000-square-foot organic garden, growing mint, rosemary, figs, pears, olives, oranges, and lemons that are all yours to pick. Guests love muddling the fresh mint and lemons into a backyard margarita. Swing in the two-person hammock, grill on the Blackstone propane griddle (utensils are in the kitchen, spare propane is in the storage cupboard), or set up the included badminton net across the lawn. A partially covered patio keeps seating shaded through the hot Gulf Coast afternoons, and a hot tub is arriving later this year for cozy winter stays.

Coastal Garden runs on solar power with three days of battery backup, so you're comfortable even if the grid isn't. Gigabit mesh WiFi covers every room, a Dyson HEPA purifier keeps the kitchen and living areas free of cooking odors, and a UV air scrubber built into the new HVAC system filters the air for guests who want extra peace of mind — including anyone staying nearby for treatment at UTMB, which is directly across the block. A complimentary Nespresso machine is stocked with pods for your first mornings here.

The location works as hard as the house does. Lindale Park's public tennis and racquetball courts are a short walk away, along with a rubber-coated jogging track right next door. A 24-hour grocery store sits across the street, and Arlan's is a few minutes' drive for everyday essentials. The home is smoke-free, monitored for safety with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and outfitted with a first aid kit and fire extinguisher.
