Escape the hustle and bustle at The Wolf Den, a cozy private suite overlooking Douglas Lake and the mountains of East Tennessee. This peaceful retreat is ideal for a solo traveler or couple looking to relax in a beautiful natural setting—and perhaps hear the neighboring wolf-dogs howl!
The suite is located above a detached garage on a gated lakefront property. The owners live on the premises, but guests have their own private accommodations, covered deck, keyless entrance, and designated parking area.
Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen-size bed, private bathroom, Wi-Fi, heating and air conditioning, and a kitchenette equipped for light meals and snacks. Amenities include a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, and K-cup coffee maker. Locally sourced spring water is also provided through a hot-and-cold water dispenser.
Enjoy a meal at the indoor table for two or dine outside on the covered deck while taking in views of English Mountain and Douglas Lake.
Enjoy the Lake
Seasonal lake access is typically available from May through September. Stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and life jackets are provided for guests to enjoy when lake conditions allow. Douglas Lake is also known for excellent fishing; a valid Tennessee fishing license is required.
In the evening, relax in the Adirondack chairs around the lakeside firepit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings beneath the stars.
A Truly Unique Neighbor
Wolf PAWS Wolf-Dog Sanctuary is located in a separate area next door to the rental property. The sanctuary is not open for general public admission, but private educational tours may be reserved in advance at wolfpaws.org.
Tours are separate from the rental reservation and can fill quickly during certain times of the year. One of the most memorable parts of staying at The Wolf Den may be hearing the sanctuary’s wolf-dogs howling in the morning or evening from your private deck.
Surrounded by Wildlife and History
Wildlife is abundant in this area. Guests may spot deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, black bears, and many varieties of birds, including Great Blue Herons, egrets, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and hummingbirds.
The historic town of Dandridge is approximately 15 minutes away. As Tennessee’s second-oldest town, Dandridge offers historic sites, locally owned shops, restaurants, and the popular Dandridge Brewing Company.
The Wolf Den is also conveniently located within driving distance of the area’s most popular destinations:
• Pigeon Forge: approximately 30 minutes
• Downtown Knoxville: approximately 45 minutes
• Gatlinburg: approximately 45 minutes
• Great Smoky Mountains National Park: approximately one hour
Driving times are approximate and may vary depending on traffic and seasonal conditions.
The Wolf Den Rules and Rental Policies
1. Check-In and Checkout
Check-in is after 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Checkout is no later than 10:00 a.m. Early check-in or late checkout must be approved in advance and may be subject to an additional charge.
2. No Smoking or Vaping
The Wolf Den is a nonsmoking property. Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the suite or anywhere on the property. A minimum $250 cleaning and remediation charge may be assessed for violations.
3. Minimum Rental Age and Adult-Only Property
The primary renter must be at least 25 years old, must be present throughout the stay, and must provide valid identification upon request.
The Wolf Den accommodates adults only. Guests under 18 are not permitted. The suite is accessed by stairs, is located on the owners’ private property, and is next to a separately operated wolf-dog sanctuary.
4. Payment
A payment equal to 50% of the reservation total is required at booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival. Reservations made within 30 days of arrival must be paid in full when booked. Payments must be made by credit card.
5. Cancellations
Reservations canceled at least 30 days before arrival may receive a refund, less a 6% processing fee. As an alternative, guests may request to move their reservation to different dates, subject to availability and any applicable rate adjustment.
Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival are nonrefundable. Changes that shorten the stay and early departures do not qualify for a refund. Fees charged by Airbnb, Vrbo, or another booking platform are governed by that platform’s policies and may not be refundable.
6. No Pets
The Wolf Den is not pet friendly. Pets are not permitted without prior written authorization. An unauthorized-pet charge of $250 may be assessed, along with any additional cleaning or damage expenses. This rule does not limit the rights of guests with trained service animals as provided by applicable law.
7. Maximum Occupancy
Maximum occupancy is two adults. Only registered guests may stay overnight at the property. Exceeding the occupancy limit or bringing unregistered overnight guests may result in termination of the stay without a refund.
8. Minimum Stays
A two-night minimum stay generally applies. Longer minimum stays may be required during holidays, special events, and other high-demand periods.
9. Linens, Towels, and Supplies
The rental includes bed linens, bath towels, and a starter supply of basic household items. Towels, linens, and other property supplies may not be removed from the suite.
10. Housekeeping, Trash, and Recycling
Daily housekeeping is not included. Before departure, guests should place trash and recycling in the marked bins downstairs beside the garage and secure the lids firmly.
The recycling bin accepts plastic, cans, and paper only. Glass is not recyclable at the property and must be placed in the regular trash. Please do not leave trash or food outside or beside the bins.
Excessive cleaning, excessive trash, or failure to follow the checkout procedures may result in an additional charge.
11. Lake and Property Access
Lake access is private and reserved for the property owners and registered guests of The Wolf Den. Guests use the lakefront area at their own risk and should remain within the designated guest areas.
Douglas Lake is a seasonal reservoir, and lake levels and shoreline conditions vary throughout the year. Lake access and water levels are not guaranteed.
12. Wolf PAWS Sanctuary
Wolf PAWS is a separate property located next door and is not part of The Wolf Den or its grounds. Guests must not enter the sanctuary property, approach or feed the animals, or attempt to access the sanctuary from The Wolf Den.
Wolf PAWS offers one complimentary small-group tour each day. Tours must be scheduled in advance and are subject to availability. Guests may request a tour at Wolf PAWS Private Tours. A stay at The Wolf Den does not automatically reserve or guarantee a tour.
13. Outdoor Kitchen and Gas Grill
The outdoor kitchen, including the gas grill, mini refrigerator, sink, and counters, is provided for registered guests. The grill must be used responsibly and only by adults.
Never leave the grill unattended while it is in use. Turn off the burners and gas supply after cooking, clean up food and grease, and do not place hot materials in the trash bins. Guests are responsible for damage caused by unsafe or improper use.
14. Parking and Gated Access
Guests must park in the designated guest parking area and may not block the garage, gate, driveway, or owners’ vehicles. Gate and entry information may not be shared with anyone who is not a registered guest.
15. Owners on the Property and Mutual Privacy
The owners live on the property and will respect the privacy of guests during their stay. In return, guests are asked to respect the owners’ privacy and remain within the designated guest areas.
The owners’ residence, garage, storage areas, and other private portions of the property are not available for guest use. Please contact the property manager if assistance is needed rather than approaching or entering a private area.
16. Parties, Visitors, and Quiet Hours
Parties, receptions, and events are prohibited. Visitors who are not included on the reservation must receive prior approval.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Please keep outdoor conversations, music, and other noise to a minimum during these hours and respect the peaceful setting, neighboring sanctuary, and property owners.
17. Rates and Fees
Rates are subject to change until a reservation is confirmed. Once confirmed, the reservation price will not change unless the guest requests an alteration or incurs additional charges.
18. Damage and Prohibited Activity
Guests are responsible for damage caused by themselves, members of their party, or approved visitors. Illegal activity, disruptive behavior, unauthorized entry into private areas, and conduct that creates a safety hazard are prohibited and may result in immediate removal without a refund.
19. Falsified Reservations
Reservations obtained using false information or misrepresentation may be canceled. The guest may be denied entry or required to leave without a refund.
20. Severe Weather and Interruptions
Refunds are not provided for rain, snow, changing lake levels, utility interruptions, road conditions, animal sounds, or other circumstances outside the property manager’s control unless the suite is inaccessible or otherwise unavailable for occupancy.
Guests are encouraged to purchase travel insurance. Any mandatory evacuation order affecting the property will be handled according to applicable law and the terms of the reservation.
21. Written Exceptions
Any exception to these policies must be approved in writing by Cabins in the Clouds before arrival.
