The Happy Place Treehouse is a real treehouse experience: an expansive private deck built around a living American beech tree estimated to be about 200 years old. Beneath twinkling evening lights, relax in a hammock, share the swinging love bench, or settle into the rocking chair, all surrounded by a lush Blue Ridge Mountain forest.

Here, you can pause, breathe in fresh mountain air, and let your nervous system relax. The gentle sound of a nearby creek and the quiet of the woods create a peaceful setting for rest and reconnection.

Inside, warm wood-lined walls create a cozy retreat with a comfortable queen Casper memory-foam bed, a fully stocked kitchen, an in-unit washer and dryer with detergent provided, a full bathroom with stand-up shower, mid-century furnishings, and an LED electric fireplace with adjustable flame and heat. This is not a kitchenette or a camping setup. It is a private, comfortable home base between mountain adventures.

Your private deck
The deck is the heart of the Treehouse experience. As the Beech tree twinkles softly in the evening, relax in a hammock, share the swinging love bench, settle into the rocking chair, enjoy a meal at the patio table, or play a round of outdoor darts.

The deck is tucked among the trees, with peaceful woodland surroundings and seasonal mountain views. Take in the forest’s birdsongs, the woodland setting, and the gentle sound of the nearby creek.

Full kitchen and laundry
This is a true full kitchen, not a kitchenette. It includes a full-size refrigerator and freezer, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, sink, and basic cookware, dinnerware for two and common kitchen staples.

Coffee, tea, sugar, and powdered creamer are provided. Brew with the traditional single-serve drip coffee maker or French press, then take your mug onto the deck.

A small guest pantry includes useful cooking basics and occasional unopened treats left by past travelers, such as salt, oil, spices, or snacks. Feel free to use what you need and, if you wish, leave an unopened item for a future guest.

Kitchen supplies include:

-Saucepan, skillet, large pot, and small pot
-Baking sheet, toaster, cutting board, and can opener
-Wine opener, wine glasses, steak knife, dishes, and silverware
-Dish soap, hand soap, and basic toiletries
-Coffee: single serve coffee pot, French press. Coffee is provided.

The in-unit washer and dryer include detergent, making it easy to wash trail clothes, freshen up after a long drive, or dry out after waterfalls and outdoor adventures.

Comfort and connectivity
The studio has high-speed fiber-optic internet, the most reliable service available in the area. It supports streaming, downloading, video calls, remote work, and everyday online use. Guests can enable WiFi calling on most devices for calls and messages.

Cell service can be limited or spotty in this rural mountain location, so WiFi calling is recommended.

The LED electric fireplace has adjustable flame and heat. An additional electric wall heater provides winter warmth, and a window air conditioner keeps the studio comfortable in summer.

Before you book

Attached-apartment setup
Happy Place Treehouse is a self-contained lower-level studio apartment connected to my home, not a detached cabin. It is thoughtfully arranged to create a private, independent stay. You will have your own dedicated driveway with free parking, private entrance, tree-screened deck, full kitchen, bathroom, and indoor living spaces.

There are no shared indoor or outdoor guest spaces and no interior connection between the studio and upstairs home. The units share only a ceiling, with sound-reducing construction installed to limit sound transfer between floors. This creates a secluded-feeling retreat in the woods, with a host nearby if you need help.

Check in at your convenience with keypad access and enjoy the property at your own pace. In-person interaction is never expected or required, and I am available through the Vrbo app if questions come up.

Dog-friendly stay
Dogs are welcome with a $100 nonrefundable pet fee per reservation. Please include your dog in the booking so the fee is included in the total reservation cost.

There is no strict weight limit, but this is a cozy studio apartment without a fenced yard. It is generally most comfortable for one small or medium-sized, well-behaved dog. If your dog gets on furniture or beds, please bring your own blankets or sheets to help protect the upholstery and bedding.

Dogs may not be left unattended on the property and must not bark excessively or engage in destructive chewing. Cats cannot be accommodated due to severe allergies. Thank you for helping keep the Treehouse comfortable for everyone.

Rural Location and transportation:
Happy Place Treehouse is in a rural mountainous area, at least 20 minutes from town. Please note, Uber, Lyft and Taxis are not available in this area. Having or renting your own vehicle is required. The final mile to the property is on a scenic dirt and gravel road. Most of the road is fairly level, with one moderate uphill switchback near the property. Expect bumps, particularly around the curves closest to the house.

Vehicle guidance
AWD and high clearance are not required, but AWD is recommended, especially for bumps and during rain or winter weather. Standard-clearance vehicles can access the property when driven carefully. Vehicles with unusually low clearance are not recommended. Please drive slowly through the neighborhood and take curves wide, especially near the house.

No television or dishwasher
There is no TV, DVD player, or dishwasher. This is a simple, peaceful place for rest, reading, cooking, streaming from your own device, and reconnecting with the forest and loved ones.

Accessibility
The studio is not wheelchair accessible. Guests must navigate uneven outdoor ground, including a dirt driveway and cobblestone pathway, plus four deck steps to reach the entrance. Once inside, the studio is single-level, with no interior stairs or inclines.

Safety and forest care
For comfort and safety, the property includes stair and driveway lighting, non-slip stair grips, tested smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers, fire-escape ladders, a first-aid kit, and basic power-outage supplies.
