About this cottage rental
An 18th century granite cottage tucked into a quiet Jersey valley, with woodland, countryside and a stream on the doorstep. It works equally well as a retreat for two or as a base for a family, with room to spread out inside and a sunny patio to come back to at the end of the day.
The location is what guests tell us they remember. It is a fifteen minute walk to St Brelade's Bay in one direction and to St Aubin's harbour and its restaurants in the other, so the car can stay on the drive for most of your stay. Fifty metres from the door you join the Railway Walk, the traffic free path that follows the old Jersey railway line, which takes you into St Aubin one way and out to Corbière lighthouse the other. On foot or on a bike it opens up a large part of the island without ever putting you on a main road, and it links into the wider network of lanes and coastal paths from there.
Inside, the ground floor is one generous open plan living space with exposed granite walls, beams and vintage pieces collected over the years. Folding glass doors open onto the south facing patio with an outdoor dining table and nothing to look at but trees. A step up from the lounge takes you into a newly fitted electric kitchen with a wooden breakfast bar and stools, alongside an antique dining table.
There is a king bedroom on the ground floor and a second king bedroom on the mezzanine above, a snug space under the original beams with feature lighting. The family bathroom has a freestanding bath as well as a walk in shower, and there is a second WC by the front door.
The cottage is a barn conversion attached to the main farmhouse, which is a family home. You have your own driveway, your own entrance and your own outdoor space, entirely separate from ours. We do ask that guests stay within that area, both for everyone's privacy and because parts of the grounds are properly overgrown.
Sleeps four. Free driveway parking for two cars, wifi throughout, and a 43 inch smart TV with Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
