About this cottage rental
The farmhouse kitchen is one of the cottage's highlights, featuring a traditional gas Aga alongside a separate cooker, making it a lovely space for everything from family breakfasts to relaxed evening meals. The cosy living room provides a comfortable place to unwind, with a wood burner, TV, and board games creating a particularly inviting atmosphere during the cooler months.
Outside, the cottage has a charming four-level garden, with a decked patio providing a lovely spot to sit and enjoy views towards Swanage Bay, making it a pleasant space to enjoy in the warmer months.
There are three bedrooms. The double bedroom has a shower and WC immediately next to the room. The small twin bedroom is ideal for children or friends travelling together, while the larger bedroom has a single bed and full-size bunk bed, providing flexible sleeping arrangements for families and larger groups. A bathroom with a bath and basin adjoins the larger bedroom, with a separate WC also available on the same floor.
The cottage retains many of its original features and character; access to the top-floor bedroom and bathroom is via steep stairs, as is typical of an older cottage, which may make these areas unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.
Baytree Cottage is exceptionally well placed for enjoying Swanage without a car. The beautiful Blue Flag beach and town centre are around a five-minute walk away, with cafés, restaurants, pubs and shops all within easy reach. The Black Swan pub is just a one-minute walk away, and a Spar is just across the road; Swanage Steam Railway is around five minutes away and the pier approximately ten minutes.
Coastal paths and walking routes are also nearby, including several routes leading directly from the cottage. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, swimming, climbing, watersports, bird watching, golf, sightseeing and exploring the Jurassic Coast. For exploring further afield, Corfe Castle is around 10 minutes by car, Studland around 15 minutes, Lulworth Cove around 30 minutes and Durdle Door around 40 minutes. The wider Purbeck area offers an exceptional mix of beautiful beaches, countryside, coastal walks and attractions, making Baytree Cottage an ideal base for both relaxing breaks and active adventures.
The cottage is equally suited to a summer beach holiday or a peaceful winter escape. After a day walking the coast, exploring the surrounding countryside or enjoying Swanage, return to the cottage to relax by the wood burner, cook together in the farmhouse kitchen or enjoy the garden and its views.
Free parking is available on nearby streets. There is no dedicated parking directly outside the cottage, although it is possible to briefly pull up outside for loading and unloading.
Baytree Cottage is a particularly good choice for guests looking for a traditional Dorset cottage with genuine character, a convenient location and easy access to both the coast and countryside.
