About this house rental
The space
GROUND FLOOR
One long open space runs from the front of the house to the back. The living area sits at one end with a large sofa and an armchair by the window, the dining table seats ten, and the kitchen closes off the other end. Sliding doors open straight onto the garden. There is a HD TV with Chromecast so you can watch your own shows. Guests consistently name this floor as their favourite part of the house.
FIRST FLOOR AND ATTIC
Bedroom 1 · one double bed
Bedroom 2 · one double bed
Bedroom 3 · one double bed
Bedroom 4 · two single beds
Bedroom 5 · sofa bed
Five bedrooms, six beds, room for ten. Five separate rooms means most guests get one to themselves, which is unusual in a house this size. The first-floor rooms have windows on two sides; the attic rooms sit under sloping ceilings with skylights above the beds. Two bathrooms, one with a freestanding bath and a walk-in shower, plus a separate toilet.
GARDEN
A large enclosed garden at the back with a lawn, a built-in barbecue and a bench. Good for long summer evenings.
STORAGE ROOM
Washing machine, iron, ironing board and drying rack, free to use. Handy on longer stays and on cycling trips.
TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN
A highchair and a crib are available on request, just let us know when you book. There is a cosy seating corner for the little ones.
Guest access
The entire house is yours, including the garden, the storage room and all appliances. Nothing is off-limits and nothing is shared with anyone else.
Two private parking spaces come with the house: one under the carport and one in the open air, each at least 3.35 metres wide. There is also free street parking along the Lieve, so even with three cars you will be fine.
The storage room holds a washing machine, iron, ironing board and drying rack, all free to use, along with cleaning supplies, a vacuum cleaner and sorting bags for waste.
Other things to note
The house has three levels: ground floor, first floor and attic. All bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs and reachable only by stairs, so there is no bedroom or bathroom on the ground floor. The attic rooms have sloping ceilings. Four bedrooms have fixed beds; the fifth has a sofa bed. The towpath along the water starts across from the front door. No smoking indoors and no pets. No parties, and after 10 pm we ask you to be mindful of the neighbours. A highchair and a crib are available on request, just let us know when you book. Two restaurants sit two hundred metres from the door and there is a bowling alley around the corner. The bakery is a ten-minute walk, and the supermarket and pharmacy are two minutes by car. The village of Waarschoot, two kilometres away, is where to head for a night out. We also rent Lievestraat 1C next door, which also sleeps 10, so both houses can be booked together for groups of up to 20.
