Need a quick and easy bite close to the house: Waldo's on South College is a family favorite -- all forms of chicken from fried to rotisserie, tenders to salads. Dine-in or drive through. Fun bar, too! Another solid option is Hector's for Mexican food - also on South College -- traditional Mexican fare. There is also your standard fast food fare from Zaxby's around the corner to Starbucks, Jersey Mike Subs, IHOP, and McDonalds among others.
Looking for a nice meal? Try Acre near downtown or Lucy's in the Moore's Mill area -- both delicious and both of which you probably need a reservation. The Hound is another delicious option downtown. There are multiple locations of Hamilton's and Amsterdam's both downtown and in Moore's Mill. Both yummy choices.
For an amazing more-than-just-dining experience, we recommend The Botanic in Opelika. The food is delicious but the experience is just as fun -- its a restaurant, a market, a nursery and a winding bar. They offer lunch in the Garden you are free to explore the grounds. Check out the website for a better description - brunch, lunch dinner.
SHOPPING: there are multiple fun shopping excursions available. Tons of boutiques around the downtown/Toomer's corner area. Toomers is known for its lemonade, ice cream and souvenirs. It is named after one of the first Auburn football players who opened the drug store in 1896. Plenty of restaurants and places to shop all around it and it is footsteps from the main university campus. Toomer's Corner is where the tradition of toilet papering the trees after a big football win occurs. Truly a sight to see.
Auburn also has a mall for more traditional shopping and tons of stores around the mall on Opelika Road, and there is Tiger Town in Opelika. Tiger Town is more of a series of shopping areas: Kohls, Target, Hobby Lobby, World Market, Petco, Home Depot, Lowes and many more. Also a smattering of chain restaurants throughout Tiger Town -- Olive Garden, Chick Fil a, Jersey Mike's, Whataburger, Chicken Salad Chicks -- just to name a few.
If you are staying for awhile -- it is a quick trip up to Lake Martin (less than an hour) for some water fun. On your way up, stop in Waverly for a meal and some antiquing. Wild Flour Bakery has delicious homemade baked goods and terrific coffee. there are several other restaurants , as well.
Nothing inside the home is off limits -- our home is your home. We do have one closet in the garage that we keep locked for storage items.
Additional toiletries are in either linen closet in the front hall or master bathroom. Forget your toothbrush? Check the drawers in the bathroom. Extra soaps, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo and conditioner are located in the linen closet.
Kitchen Amenities: Our kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, bakeware, and small appliances such as electric mixer and blender. Additionally, while there is a Keurig and coffee pods out on the counter for your use, we also have a 12-cup coffee pot in the lower cabinets, along with filters and loose coffee if you prefer to make a whole pot. Feel like cooking a meal? We have stocked a few of the basics for you-- basic spices, salt, pepper, sugar, flour, oil. Lastly --water. The refrigerator is stocked with bottled water for your convenience.
Spacious Master bedroom with attached bathroom and huge walk in closet for storage. Plenty of room in this bedroom or around the house for additional sleeping. Extra queen and twin air mattresses located in Master bedroom walk-in closet . Extra sheets for both can be found in the front hallway linen closet.
Need some extra seating? there is a card table and 4 chairs in the garage if needed.
Two queen bed rooms share a bathroom steps from their doors. Ample closets and dressers for storage.
The front bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed.
The house has 5 televisions -- on on the back porch for sports fans.
The house is open concept -- the kitchen, dining room and living room are all centrally located in the home. The dining table seats 8 to 10 with a pull out leaf to expand the table. (extra folding chairs are stored in the garage.) Additionally the Kitchen Island has additional seating for 4.
Tiger Transit: Auburn University has a citywide bus service to Campus called Tiger Transit. There are two close bus stops on East University -- a short walk from the house. You can turn either direction onto East University from Lois Lane to find a stop. The closest is to the left towards the Aldi shopping center.
Auburn also has a robust Uber network. Don't feel like walking the 2 miles to Campus? Grab and Uber.
During football games there are many paid lots close to campus for tailgating or just parking. During the week, there is inexpensive municipal parking downtown.
