Coffee in the morning, a book in the afternoon. 🍳 Upper deck: dining table for six, tall Adirondack chairs with attached side tables, propane grill with a tank ready. Lights come on at dusk on their own. 🔥 Fire pit: six Adirondack chairs around a propane fire pit on the hillside. Push the igniter, turn the knob, done. 🌙 Stargazing at 8,324 ft with no city glow. 🪜 This is a stairs-heavy house. About 9 steps up to the front door, 8 up and 6 down between floors inside, and roughly 12 more down to the hot tub. Not workable with a stroller or a mobility device, and worth a look at the photos before you book. 🛣️ Paved most of the way in, then gravel and uphill at the end. AWD or 4WD is required October through May and is the better call year-round. Snow can sit on that last stretch after a storm, so plan a slow morning rather than a tight flight window. Bailey is a Platte Canyon town of about 800 people, strung along US-285 where the North Fork of the South Platte runs through. It's the last real town before the road climbs to Kenosha Pass and drops into South Park. Summer brings hikers and river traffic, fall brings everyone chasing aspens, and winter goes quiet and local. Up the hill where the house sits, it's trees, gravel, and woodsmoke.
