Design, Atmosphere and History

Inspired by the charming vintage rentals in Round Top, Texas, The White Pearl is loaded with authentic midcentury (and romantically sensuous) pirate ship character - think “Pirates of the Caribbean” meets “Swiss Family Robinson.” This incredibly rare and original solid wood Costa Rican style bungalow is one of only a handful of Bolivar Penisula homes to survive every hurricane and storm since 1965 including Hurricane Ike. She was lovingly saved and relocated from the bayside to a beautiful unobstructed beach front view lot. Thoughtfully designed and restored to her full original glory, she was additionally updated with all new pilings, infrastructure, roof, and most of the bottom and large wrap around top deck replaced. Given a brand new fully equipped chef’s kitchen with generous, well-appointed bathrooms that truly complement her original 1965 charm.

A unique treasure of a beach house, The White Pearl boasts original cherrywood beadboard throughout every ceiling and dozens of dark crown molded beams, large mahogany shutter doors, rare antiques, genuine fine art, romantic moody nooks, and unexpected architectural features and whimsy throughout including her original mid-century pendant lighting and built-ins.

She was designed with the intent to be 100% different from all of the other same, boring corporation run (and rundown) beach houses that are prevalent in Crystal Beach. Owner operated, curated and cared for, you will receive so much one on one attention and 5 star care from the luxury bath and bedding all made and ready for you to a bottle of wine upon arrival to the coffee/tea/waffle mix and syrup provided, to the bluebell ice cream (a must for those perfect sunny days on the beach!), and many many more fun surprises to be found waiting for you!

During the daytime, you will experience soft coastal natural lighting and panoramic views of the Gulf from nearly every angle of the home (and from the back bayside, views include a large bayside pond and shipping channel where you can watch the cargo ships float by while catching a stunning Bolivar sunset). At night, warm candlelight sets the tone and casts spellbinding glows (rechargeable for guests), as well as an exquisitely romantic heated electric fireplace in the beachside primary room.

This stay is perfect for couples looking for that sweet romantic touch (ideal for honeymooners) or an “extra special” girl’s retreat or couple’s friend’s retreat. The White Pearl is also the perfect solo respite and sanctuary for the inner artist. Beach View Primary Suite #1: One KING bed, serene sunrise coastal beach views, private and romantic luxe feel. Attached Beachfront Sunrise Room with green trundle bed (2 twin beds) and direct French door access to the large wrap around deck from the sunrise room. Gorgeous cast iron tub to be installed soon!

Bay View Primary Suite #2: One KING bed, One QUEEN bed, sensual masculine vibe, private and spacious. Attached Bayfront Sunset Room with white trundle bed (2 twin beds). Private French doors provide access to the large wrap around deck and stunning beach views just feet away from the bedroom.

Living Spaces (3 Total):

1) Central, spacious and inviting primary living room with TV, perfect for wine nights, movies and gatherings, open concept to the kitchen and dining areas (two dining tables nearby perfect for meals or games). Direct French door access to the large wrap around deck.

2) Morning sun-soaked, private second living room area with panoramic ocean views with a TV. The perfect private nook to escape to with a trundle bed to relax, read a book or take a refreshing nap. Catch a stunning sunrise on the comfortable sofa with warm coffee or tea in hand. Private French door access to the large wrap around deck.

3) Cozy, tucked-away bayside view living area complete with extra game (or dining) table perfect for puzzles, cards and games with its own trundle bed to lounge or nap in. Perfect space to catch a beautiful Bolivar sunset and watch the huge ships go by in the channel across the highway. Direct French door access to the large wrap around deck.

Kitchen: Loaded chef’s kitchen thoughtfully filled with every assortment for the cook. Full size fridge, oven, stove top and dishwasher. Air fryer, crock pot, blender, hand mixer, toaster and Dutch oven.

Location:

The White Pearl is located on one of the most beautiful, unobstructed beach view lots in Caplen, Texas, set only one mile West of Rollover Pass (between Crystal Beach and Gilchrist) and makes for one of the best seashelling beach walks (3 miles round trip) to the newly constructed Rollover Pass Pier (to be completed soon).

Situated in a quiet Caplen neighborhood, The White Pearl is in an exceptionally peaceful community (not the typical loud and tightly stacked Crystal Beach neighborhood), incredibly private (surrounded by empty lots on all three sides, highway out front - although there are a few nearby rentals), it is well maintained and extremely friendly (all of us neighbors are good friends). The White Pearl also comes with a spacious lot directly adjacent and between the beach house and the beach (please be aware of boundary lines on map) with its own paved road entrance. Perfect for overflow parking, camping under the stars, fun backyard games or an ideal outdoors setup base for your beach days. It is yours to use as you need.

Only a quick 10 minute drive down to Crystal Beach proper by highway, but also a very fun ride straight on the beach to town, Bolivar Peninsula is one of the few Texas beaches that you can easily drive on (be sure to have a beach pass - can purchase at most convenience stores or the Big Store). Beware the sand can sometimes be notoriously deep on the beach directly in front of The White Pearl (although easily navigable by 4 wheel drive or ATV, and of course always walkable to get to).
