This historic beach cottage was once one of the white canvas tent homes that made up "White City" a Summerville resort community that used to line the shores of lake Ontario in the early 1900s.
This is a historic Summerville beach cottage with lots of original character, including uneven floors, unique rooflines, and cozy cottage style spaces. It’s part of what makes the home special, but guests should expect charm over new construction.
The cottage is located near the water, so weather, lake conditions, and seasonal beach access may vary. Please be respectful of the neighbors, the private beach area, and the peaceful residential setting.
History
After the great depression, homes were built right over the canvas tents, turning these summer cottages into permanent residences. The historic character is still evident in these homes with uneven floors and rooflines.
The Space
This surprisingly spacious two bedroom cottage has a wide open floor plan.
At night
take in the stars and enjoy a campfire on the private beach.
Morning
Wake up and enjoy the sunrise over the still glasslike water. Follow that up with a relaxing and picturesque hike through one of the many trails in Durand Eastman Park.
Activities
Golf at one of the country’s oldest public golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones and Donald Ross or one of the many golf courses in and around Rochester.
