About this house rental

This historic townhouse, built in 1916, sits so close to downtown that you can switch between the city’s hustle and bustle and the tranquillity of home without having to go far. The kitchen, living room, and bedrooms offer views of Bjørvika, City Hall, Holmenkollen, and Marka. Every evening, you can watch the sunset from the sofa, the dining table, or the kitchen nook.

The kitchen and living room form one open space with several distinct areas, so you can spend time together or retreat a bit as needed. The corner sofa, the bench at the dining table, and the sleeping areas are custom-built. The furniture, sourced from car boot sales and passed down through generations, gives the house a personal touch.

In front of the entrance, you’ll find a private seating area. The rest of the yard is shared with the neighbours and is best suited for a quiet family holiday rather than large gatherings. Against the gable wall are sturdy benches you’re free to use, and you can move a garden chair to follow the sun. A sandpit for the little ones is located at the end of the house.

Marked hiking trails start right across the street and climb steeply up toward Ekeberg through the forest. Nearby is Ekebergparken with its sculptures, and 500 metres further up the road is the spot where Munch is said to have painted *The Scream*. Middelalderparken is a ten-minute walk away. On the way to Bjørvika and the Munch Museum, you’ll pass through Gamlebyen, which features swimming spots, cafés, restaurants, and shops.
