Casa Macaria sits alone on a wide stretch of the Oaxacan coast, surrounded by dense jungle and open only to the Pacific. Seven suites for up to twenty guests, a pool facing the water, lawns that run to an empty beach, and a full staff through the day. It rents only as a whole — the entire property, the entire shoreline in front of it, and no one else. Space here is the whole point.



The Space:

What you notice first is how much room there is. The property opens across acres of lawn and jungle, and the beach in front of it belongs to no one — no neighbors within sight, no vendors, no other groups. Twenty people can spread across this place and still lose each other for hours. That's the luxury on offer: not a view of isolation, but actual isolation, on a coastline most people never reach.



The house is held inside thick, green jungle — palms, flowering trees, the kind of growth that closes in behind you the moment you arrive and keeps the world at a distance. Cross it and you come out onto open lawn, then the pool, then the sand. Days here take on their own rhythm. Mornings are for the water, and the surf on this stretch is serious — you hear it from every room, all night, with nothing between you and it.



Seven suites are set apart from one another across the grounds, each under its own roof, which means groups of twenty travel together without ever feeling stacked on top of each other. There are shaded places to eat, to nap, to sit through an entire afternoon and speak to no one. In the evening everyone converges under the big palapa, and the day turns into a long dinner that no one has to organize.



A cook works here from eight until eight. The group chooses from a menu written for this house, sends it ahead, and food simply appears — breakfast on the terrace, lunch by the pool, dinner under the palm roof. Bar, kitchen, housekeeping and grounds are all staffed while you're here, and everyone is gone by nine, leaving the house entirely to your group.



Guest Access:

Guests have private, complete access to the entire property: all seven suites, the pool, the palapa and lounge areas, the gardens, the grill, and the beachfront directly in front of the house. Because Casa Macaria rents only as a full house, there are no other guests at any point during the stay. Each suite opens with its own key, and parking is available at the back of the property.



The Neighborhood:

This is a stretch of coast where the jungle still comes right down to the sand. Houses are far apart, the beach in front stays empty, and the surf that made this coastline famous breaks a few steps from the lawn. Puerto Escondido is an easy drive when you want it — the fish market, mezcal at dusk, restaurants that fill up late, and the calmer bays further along where the water is good for swimming.



Getting Around:

Puerto Escondido's airport is a short drive from the house. Groups typically arrange a transfer on arrival or keep a rental car for the stay; the property sits on the coast highway, so having a vehicle makes trips into town simple, though taxis are easy to arrange. Everything on the property itself is walkable.



Other Things to Note:

The kitchen is the cook's working space, so we ask that guests leave it to her. We appreciate music kept moderate during the day and low after nine. Pets aren't able to stay here. Grocery runs and the food advance are coordinated before arrival, and guest laundry isn't handled on site.



Maximum capacity is 20 guests, with 18 sleeping comfortably and the remaining places using sofa beds. Airbnb allows a maximum of 16 guests to be listed; each additional guest beyond the 16th is charged separately at 130 USD per person per night.



For security purposes, all guests must complete a mandatory digital check-in prior to arrival. This includes submitting a valid ID, completing a registration form, and providing a credit/debit card for a security deposit. This secure process is required to validate your reservation and receive check-in instructions. Failure to complete it may result in denied access without refund.



Interaction with Guests:

The house runs fully staffed while you're in it — kitchen, bar, housekeeping and a grounds manager on hand through the day, with housekeeping available by request between nine and three. The team steps back as much as you want them to and steps in the moment you need something. After nine in the evening the house is yours alone.
