Ølsted lies between Lake Arresø and Roskilde Fjord, making the area well suited to days spent exploring the varied landscapes of North Zealand. Follow the Halsninoen hiking route through the countryside or visit Ølsted Gravel Pit, now a recreational nature park with walking trails and viewpoints across the surrounding area. Frederiksværk offers an interesting combination of canal scenery, industrial heritage and access to nature around Arresø. For a change of scene, head towards the coast around Hundested and Lynæs or enjoy a beach outing at Liseleje on the Kattegat.
