About this house rental
A luxury coastal retreat by award-winning architect Paul Richards, designed around the extraordinary landscape of Abel Tasman. Floor-to-ceiling windows, serene interiors and expansive indoor-outdoor living spaces frame panoramic views across Marahau Bay to the mountains beyond.
Walk through native bush to Split Apple Rock Beach and nearby bays, or spend the day hiking, kayaking and exploring the beaches and coastal tracks of Abel Tasman National Park.
The newly built home was designed to blur the boundaries between inside and out. Natural light fills the open living spaces, and every room enjoys views of either the sea or the surrounding mountains. Throughout the day, the landscape continually changes with the tides, weather and light.
Inside, the atmosphere is calm, contemporary and quietly luxurious. The minimalist Japanese-inspired aesthetic combines natural materials, simplicity and generous spaces, with the architecture deliberately allowing the landscape to take centre stage.
Outside, terraces and seating areas offer places to relax, enjoy the birdsong and native vegetation, or simply watch the light move across the bay. In the evening, return from a day exploring Abel Tasman to enjoy a drink on the terrace as the sun sets over the water and mountains.
Despite the wonderfully peaceful setting, restaurants, cafés and activities are close by. Abel Tasman National Park is on the doorstep, with hiking, kayaking, swimming and some of New Zealand’s most beautiful beaches within easy reach.
The house offers a rare combination of exceptional architecture, contemporary comfort, tranquillity and spectacular sea and mountain views. It's a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and experience this remarkable part of New Zealand.
