About this house rental

Summary:

White Hart Cottage is a recently renovated home in the heart of Stow, thoughtfully designed for quiet comfort: upholstered headboards, sandblasted beams and a light-filled open-plan living space upstairs.

Three super-king bedrooms below, each beautifully dressed, and a private courtyard of your own. Two of the Cotswolds' best-loved pubs sit just beyond the garden, with the villages, walks and farm shops all within easy reach. Dogs welcome, two spaces, EV charging on us.

The Space:

White Hart is an upside-down home, and it works beautifully. The bedrooms sit on the ground floor, calm and quiet, while the living space rises above them to catch the light.

Downstairs, three bedrooms, each with a super-king bed, upholstered headboards and blackout curtains for a proper night's sleep. The principal has its own en-suite, with exposed brick and a rainfall shower, plus a dressing room alongside. The other two bedrooms share a second shower room, finished to the same standard. Oak floors run throughout, and there's bedside charging in every room.

Up the stairs, the heart of the house: an open-plan living space under sandblasted beams and skylights, bright and easy. A comfortable sitting area gathers around the fire and the television, a dining table seats six, and the kitchen is built for proper cooking, with a Rangemaster, a boiling-water tap, a dishwasher and a wine cooler. Whether it's coffee for one or dinner for six, it's all here.

Outside, your own private courtyard, gated and quiet, with a table for six for long lunches in the sun and an evening drink once it cools. There's parking for two cars, and if you've come by electric, the charger is on us.

And just beyond the garden, The Stag and The Old Stocks, two of Stow's best-loved pubs, for the mornings you'd rather someone else made breakfast.

Guest Access:

The entire cottage is yours for your stay, along with your own private, gated courtyard. Beyond the garden sit The Stag and The Old Stocks, and their beer gardens make for a delightful way to pass an afternoon in Stow, whether that's a lazy lunch or a drink as the evening draws in.

The Neighborhood:

Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest of the Cotswold towns, built around a handsome market square of honey-coloured stone. It's a place made for wandering: antique shops and independent boutiques, good coffee, and more than a few excellent places to eat, most of them a short stroll from the door.

Beyond the town, the countryside opens quickly. Footpaths lead out to Broadwell and the Slaughters, some of the prettiest villages in England, and the wider Cotswolds are all within easy reach: Bourton-on-the-Water, Daylesford, the farm shops, and Diddly Squat a little further on. Kingham station, fifteen minutes away, runs direct to London.

It's an easy base, whether you've come to walk, to eat well, or simply to slow down for a few days.

Getting Around:

Stow is best enjoyed on foot. The cottage sits just off the market square, so the shops, cafés and both pubs are only a few minutes' walk, and you can happily leave the car for the day.

When you do want it, you have two private parking spaces: one in the gated courtyard, the other marked just in front. If you've come by electric, there's a charger, and it's on us.

For further afield, a car is the easiest way to reach the surrounding villages, though local buses run from the square to Bourton, Moreton and Cheltenham. Kingham station, about fifteen minutes away, runs direct to London Paddington in around an hour and a half, so it's an easy place to arrive without a car at all.

Other Things to Note:

White Hart is an upside-down home, with bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and the living space up, so there are stairs to consider.

It sits behind The Stag at Stow, so summer evenings may carry a gentle hum from the pub garden, though nights are quiet.

Keys are collected from The Stag's reception, a moment beyond the garden. One dog is welcome, kept off the beds and furniture, please.

Interaction with Guests:

We look after White Hart on behalf of the owners, and we're here whenever you need us, without ever getting in the way.

You can reach us any time through Airbnb, and we're on hand throughout your stay should anything come up.

Whether you'd like recommendations, a hand with something, or simply to be left to enjoy your stay, we'll take your lead.
