Cabin in Shenandoah Valley, VA
Reasons to book
About this cabin rental
You'll find big windows, warm wood, good records, and plenty of places to get comfortable. But between hot tub soaks, dinner under the trees, fireside drinks, hammock naps, and movies under the stars, the best room in the house might just be outside.
The Wonderwood sleeps up to 10 and is made for couples, families, friends, and the dogs you wouldn't dream of leaving behind.
INSIDE
The main level centers around a light-filled living room with walls of windows looking into the trees. Sink into the oversized sectional, put on a record, gather around the fireplace, or challenge someone to a game of shuffleboard.
The fully stocked kitchen has everything you need for slow breakfasts and dinners at home, with plenty of room to gather around the island and dining table.
When everyone needs a little space of their own, head downstairs. The separate hangout has bunk beds, a TV, arcade games, books and games—a spot made for kids and kids at heart.
SLEEPING SPACES
The cabin has three bedrooms plus additional sleeping space:
Main-level bedroom: Queen bed with a full-size crib tucked into the closet for families traveling with little ones.
Downstairs bedroom: King bed, full-size daybed with twin trundle pull out, reading corner, and direct access to bathroom.
Downstairs bunk area: Two full-over-full bunk beds, creating a fun separate sleeping and hangout space.
Baby gear is available too, including a full-size crib, booster seat, and baby gate.
OUTSIDE
This is where The Wonderwood really comes to life.
Soak in the private hot tub beneath the trees. Cook dinner outside and linger around the table. Gather around the firepit, stretch out in a hammock, or settle in for a movie under the stars.
Peek inside the glass stargazing nook, grab the telescope, and see what you can find overhead. Wander a little farther and you'll find places to sit, play, explore, and simply disappear into the woods for a while.
Dogs get some vacation freedom too, with a huge fenced yard where they can run and explore. The property has plenty of room to roam, with little things to discover along the way.
CLOSE TO THE ADVENTURE
The Wonderwood feels wonderfully hidden away, but you're close to everything that brings people to the Shenandoah Valley.
The Swift Run Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park is just 15 minutes away, putting Skyline Drive, hiking trails, waterfalls, and mountain overlooks within easy reach.
Massanutten Resort is about 18 minutes away, with skiing, tubing, mountain biking, golf, and its indoor/outdoor waterpark.
Luray Caverns is about 40 minutes away.
Meanwhile, local wineries, lavender fields, hiking, caverns, local restaurants, and small mountain towns are scattered throughout the surrounding area.
Need coffee or breakfast before heading out? Looking for an evening of stone-fired pizza and live music? Good Day Café, J's bagels, Elkton Brewery, and more are just 5 minutes down the road.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Wonderwood is a mountain property, and getting here is part of the experience. You'll travel along scenic, winding roads and over little bridges as you make your way into the woods. During winter weather or other inclement conditions, AWD/4WD is strongly recommended.
There is gravel parking for up to four vehicles.
The home has central heat and air conditioning, Wi-Fi, self check-in, and a smart TV with Roku Guest Mode so you can securely sign into your own streaming accounts.
Up to two dogs are welcome, and the fenced dog yard makes bringing them along a whole lot easier.
So come with your person, your kids, your best friends—or all of the above. Spend the day exploring Shenandoah, come home for a soak under the trees, put on a record and open a bottle of wine.
There’s plenty to do around here—and absolutely nothing wrong with doing nothing at all.
