About this house rental

Summary:

Located directly on the beachfront in Pākawau, Golden Bay, this three-bedroom holiday home offers uninterrupted views across the water and direct beach access from the garden. The single-storey property features an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, with large windows overlooking the sea and sliding doors connecting the living space to the outdoor patio. Exposed timber ceilings add character throughout the home. Outside, guests can enjoy a spacious lawn, established gardens, outdoor seating, a sheltered swing seat and a barbecue area, with steps leading directly down to Pākawau Beach.

The Space:

The home accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms: one bedroom with a king bed and two bedrooms with two single beds each. The open-plan living area includes comfortable lounge seating, a television, a dining table and a built-in window seat overlooking the garden and sea. The kitchen is equipped with a gas cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator and everyday cooking essentials. The bathroom facilities have an unusual three-part layout: the vanity and handbasin are positioned in the hallway leading towards the king bedroom, the shower is located in the adjoining laundry room alongside the washing machine and laundry tub, and the toilet is in a separate room to the left. This arrangement allows guests to use the different facilities independently.

Guest Access:

Self check-in via lockbox.

The Neighborhood:

Pākawau is a small coastal settlement at the northern end of Golden Bay, approximately 14 kilometres north of Collingwood. The property is situated along Pākawau Beach, with opportunities for beach walks, fishing and enjoying the changing tides. The Old School Café is nearby, while Collingwood is approximately 15 minutes away by car and offers cafés, shops and departures for Farewell Spit tours. Further north, guests can explore Cape Farewell, Pūponga Farm Park and Wharariki Beach, known for its sand dunes, coastal scenery and rock formations. The walk to Wharariki Beach takes approximately 20 minutes from the car park.

Other Things to Note:

The bathroom does not have a conventional enclosed layout. The shower shares the laundry area, the vanity is in the hallway leading to the king bedroom, and the toilet is in a separate room. There is one shower and one toilet. Beach access is via outdoor steps descending from the garden, and the beachfront boundary is not fully fenced, so children should be supervised near the water. The beach is tidal, meaning the amount of exposed sand changes throughout the day. Pākawau is a small settlement with limited shopping facilities, so guests may wish to purchase groceries in Collingwood or Tākaka before arriving.
