Aura Hotel Brooklyn

LIKED Clean, comfortable rooms( for two people not families), great location with relatively easy subway access (10 min walking). We stayed eight nights as two families and were happy with the hotel overall.

When booking, I searched for 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 7. This room came up as a normal option and the listing stated that our children can stay for free. What we actually got was a room with two single beds — two adults and two children had to squeeze into two singles. If a room cannot properly sleep a family of four, it should not be offered for that search. Second issue was that before arriving, we messaged the hotel through the Booking app and the hotel confirmed in writing that they would store our luggage from both rooms after check-out. We planned our final day around that. At check-out the receptionist refused to take the bags, saying there were too many. Even after we showed him the hotel's own written message, it took a long discussion before he agreed, and his manner throughout was dismissive. When we collected the bags that evening, they were in a huge storage room that was completely empty. The luggage issue was not a problem with the hotel's policy — the hotel had already agreed. It was one member of staff choosing not to honour it. Management should pay closer attention to who represents them at the front desk.
