Comfortable room in good location; service less than perfect.
Old historic house; large room
Private bathroom was across the hall. No longer offering breakfast (some food to takeaway in a cold case on second floor). More attention to separately owned on-site restaurant than to hotel.

Must Stay & Best Food in Town
Oh - let me rave on this place for a bit because WOW. The location was fantastic! It's a 2 minute drive or 7 minute walk to the waterfront and shopping and restaurants. The room was spacious and very clean. Bed was comfortable. The shower had super hot water, and the provided soaps and shampoos were very nice. We were in the Gwendolen Suite which has an exterior balcony. I can only imagine how lovely that would be in spring and summer. This is definitely something we will keep in mind! Customer service was absolutely amazing both in the restaurant and the hotel. The hotel manager, Mike, was very communicative. He was kind to reach out and provide us with a room upgrade from our initial room - the Innkeepers room to the GS given some room availability. This gave us an in-room bathroom versus the private hall bath the other provided and was very much appreciated! Adam, in the restaurant, was a superb server. The food and drinks were FANTASTIC. We had the huckleberry chicken, the ahi tuna, marionberry cheesecake, and the pineapple upside down cake. Portions were perfect, drinks were well-made, and everyone was just so kind. I've read other reviews with complaints about the provided breakfast, and I have nothing negative to say. There was fruit, yogurt, and pastries provided. They give you a $35 voucher to a fantastic restaurant, and to be honest, I'd much rather have the voucher to 315 than a full continental breakfast. There are multiple local bakeries nearby as well if anyone is craving something different. And you also have access to brunch at the restaurant on listed days. I honestly do not think I've ever had a more positive experience at a hotel/restaurant before. I've told multiple friends and family about this place already, and my parents are excited to stay on a future visit to the region.
There's just a couple of things that may be kept in mind, but do not detract at all from the amazing experience we had. 1. The pillows are very very soft, so if you need more support, be aware. 2. The television had no sound. We tried to troubleshoot it multiple ways, but somehow, it just would not come on for us via streaming or cable. I assume there was something that we just overlooked. Again, we're not there to watch tv - it was just something we couldn't work around. 3 The menus provided in the room for the restaurant were outdated, so the specials and some of the entrees were different. We went down thinking that we could order one thing, but it was no longer offered. Of course, this is not a biggie either - the food that we were served was phenomenal, and we were both delighted. That's it. It was great. I hope everyone who stays here has such a great experience.

Disappointing room, arrogant manager
Location
We arrived at 6 pm, after a long drive. There was no one to greet us. Finally, the restaurant hostess appeared, to let us know we needed a code for a self check in. We called the manager, Mike, and he said we were supposed to receive a code via text or email earlier that day, and that it probably got in a spam folder. He gave me the code, and texted “So just so you have it the rest of the night your code is ** and you’re in the room number 7”. After finally getting to our room, I double checked my messages and, sure enough, there was nothing from Greenbriar. I texted Mike about it, and his answer was “Thanks for letting me know. I will have to look at the software and see why it’s falling”. Seriously?? Instead of a simple apology to your inconvenienced and tired guest? Also, who addresses their guests by “so”?.. We chose room 7 based on the pictures of it. It looked unique and inviting, with warm dark beige walls, burgundy curtains, green rugs, dark wooden doors, cute settee at the bed, and vintage wall art. However, when we stepped in, my first thought was that we got a wrong room. Dull curtains, no rugs, sticky wooden floors, no settee, no decor, no cart table at the sink. The “updated” room got stripped of its charm. Moreover, they removed the carpet, but did not level the metal vent cover with the floor, and it had protruding sharp corners. I learned it hard way, injuring my toe when getting out of bed, which badly affected my remaining vacation. The slanted ceiling is so low at the claw foot bathtub, that you have to bend awkwardly to crawl in and out of the tub. It was the most uncomfortable “bath” I took in my life. The water turning ice cold every 2 minutes, and holes in a bathrobe, just added to this unpleasant experience. I am omitting some more displeasing details. Hope they will complete their updates, to bring beauty and safety to their rooms, and the manager might benefit from renewing some hospitality trainings.

We admire their desire to make this into a kind of botique hotel with restaurant and bar buf we would like to see the re
I loved the concept of taking a building more than 100 years old and updating it. Our bed was comfortable, our room was clean. The staff were friendly and informative. The restaurant food was good.
The sink in our room drained very slowly. The only parking was on the street and typical of an older property the steps to the second floor were quite steep. The walls are thin and sound transmits pretty easily.
