Motel 6 Minot, ND

Location, value, pet-friendly, comfortable bed.

I didn’t like the parking area at the back of the motel closest to my room. It was dark and there were various people coming/going who didn’t appear to be registered guests (one woman was lurking around my car). I then moved my vehicle to the front entrance of the motel which felt safer with better lighting.

Great location.

The box springs need vacuuming around the edges. There was hair and dust between the mattress and frame. When we arrived in the police were in the parking lot with lights flashing. Makes you wonder if it’s safe.

The location is near food and shopping centers.

Checked in around 4:00 p.m. Had to walk to the end of the sidewalk and through a front door with no accessible push button. Inside, three employees were chatting while one was checking in a guest. We waited, no big deal. The employee started checking us in, then handed us off to someone else. The pool was closed because the health department had shut it down “due to an incident.” I was traveling with a coworker who uses a wheelchair, so I asked where the handicap parking was. I was first told the north side, even though our room was on the south side. After asking if I really had to push a wheelchair across the cracked parking lot, I was told there were actually three handicap spots by the south entrance. When we got back from the fair, all three accessible spots were full. Two vehicles didn’t have handicap placards or plates, so we had to make do. That entrance also had no accessible door button. Once upstairs, we found the room wasn’t wheelchair accessible. The wheelchair wouldn’t fit between the beds, so I had to help carry my coworker. There were no grab bars in the bathroom either. When we reserved the room we were told it was handicap accessible. We also had TV issues. The remote by the TV didn’t work, and when I called the front desk, I was told there was a second one hidden in the desk drawer. Even with that remote, the cable had no sound, so we gave up. The room was clean, but the lack of accessibility ruined the trip.
