what we expected to see the ocean

ocean view, elevator. large room with refrigerator and walking areas. comfy bed and pillows. nice staff. fulfilled our need.

an overall a wee bit past it’s prime days. rust is common on the coast and it had rust here and there. price yet we know Newport’s taxes and lodging taxes are high, yet cheaper than Depoe bay and Lincoln city.

Very disappointed

It was an ocean view room.

No over night stay room clean. No restaurant or cafe open. Mold on the bathroom. Not enough towels in the room. We had 3 people and only 2 towels.

the hotel provided a safe place to stay with gorgeous beach views. Just don’t expect too much when you stay here

the location was right on the beach.

it wasn’t very clean, unfortunately. My room had gross smudges in places that should have been cleaned, like the bathroom. The pool looked pretty dirty too. They also had an old pool that wasn’t closed off to guests, and it wasn’t obvious until you open the door and realize it was full of old things. It was really creepy and dark, so I closed the door so fast and ran. I wouldn’t have opened the door if I knew it was going to look like that.

The place needs some maintenance. Some of the gutter downspouts were missing and water was flowing on the surface ground from the roof gutters.

Very good

It was a short walk down to the beach a perfect view of the ocean from our room. Our dog came with us which was great since it was a family trip. The location was great a short drive to every place we wanted to go.

There was no breakfast. I might be mistaken, but i thought that was part of everything when i booked the room. But i understand if it wasn't available because of covid restrictions still. Parking under the D building was impossible because our 2011 nissan xterra was to talk again understandable because that's on us, not the shilo inn. And the pool was all the way across the parking lot. Just a cold walk back to our room.

Good

The room was clean, staff was very friendly and it was very close to the beach. Only 90 steps down to the sand.

We had a king room, but the pillows were small and very flat.

I didn’t feel safe so we left before night fall.

The location was the only good thing about this place!

I felt unsafe. Felt like an OLD abandoned musty run down motel. Pool was nasty, no screens on windows. Moldy crevices in bathroom. The smell everywhere was OLD! We left after just 2 hours. I checked out at the office and shared my displeasure. I received an email that said they would like to refund me but Booking.com needs to contact Shilo Inn Newport in order to process the refund. I won’t use booking.com OR Shilo Inn!

Disappointing

Shilo Inn has the best beach location right on the beach beautiful. We used to stay there and it was so busy unfortunately it has changed. It needs some repairs and a good cleaning. They have a beautiful restaurant and two large conference rooms all not being used😞.we hope that someone gets this beautiful place and fix it back up. There location is perfect best restaurants all around them.

wonderfully adequate beachfront locale in walking distance to great neighborhoods

excellent beach-front location in easy walking distance to several neighborhoods

It’s a little rundown - looks like it had its heyday in the 90’s. lots of closed up spaces due to COVID, which is clearly out of their control. it’s worth noting that it’s well insulated and quiet.

Passable

Restaurant and cafe closed for good. Lots of deffered maintenance needed on old building structures. Clean, rooms are spacious. Staff was excellent with service. Excellent views. heaters in rooms , but no A/ C during hot weather. Box fan in room.

Never ever would I stay there again

No a/c window was only 6 inches by 6 inches it was so hot and muggy in the room restaurant was closed and they didn’t have anyone cleaning the rooms it was terriable

Second worst hotel I ever stayed at (and that is a lot of them)

the staff was very friendly. The view was great.

The place was a shabby dump. There was a number of things wrong in our room. A dog chewed armoire, Only one night table stand actually had a lamp on it! No cleaning service, no restaurant, loose electrical connection on the bathroom fan. Incompetent "renovation", not even handyman worthy. Tiny TV, Broken screens on window. several light bulbs out. I could go on but in short, do yourself a favor and stay at either of the hotels on either side of this mess!

We will never stay there again. Worst coast “Resort” anywhere!

Honestly there was nothing to like. Overpriced, dirty, zero amenities.

The rude customer service from the front desk. On our 2nd night there we literally had to argue with the front desk to get clean towels. So ghetto not even a bed skirt.

Very good

The view was great, the staff was wonderful BUT one of the main reasons we booked was because you had a restaurant. We got there and were told the restaurant is closed. We were totally bummed.

Beautiful view of beach. Comfortable beds and chairs. Large room with large bathroom Staff was fantastic 😃 Elevator and stairs to get to rooms

We had a great view accommodations were not so great. will stay somewhere else.

It was pretty run down and dirty. Not very many towels, floors dirty. It was loud from convention center having a party. Elevator was slow, no dining area. Price was really high, small dirty pool lots of kids.

didn’t specify that they don’t rent to under 21. made a reservation and the lady at the front desk was very rude, didn’t even suggest other hotels to try or do anything to try to help. just said they can’t rent to under 21 and pushed us out.

it was right on the beach. Beautiful view and the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable and the room came with dishes it looked like they are trying to update the place

the parking garage driveway was very steep my car bottoms out and the hallways and lobby was really run down the the magnet that locked the outside door was rusted so it didn’t lock so there was people who was not a guest in the bottom floor of the building

The beds were comfortable and clean .. Staff was excellent. It is called CORPORATE Shilo needs to do a better job…

The view was incredible.

Needs updating and the rooms need serious attention like replacing ripped drapes , doors that need fixed and deep cleaning .
