Holiday Inn Express Covington-Madisonville by IHG

My room was upgraded and the room was nice.

I accidentally booked this hotel and needed to change the date of my stay. I reached out to them about the possibility of changing my date but never heard anything from them. Because they did not respond, and not lose my money, I figured I’d do a “staycation” (I live in New Orleans, about 40 miles from this hotel). The front desk person wasn’t the friendliest and was almost rude, so my experience began morning the most positive light. I checked in and went to my room. When I opened the door, someone else was in there! Thank God they were in the bathroom and didn’t hear me walking in! I noticed their clothes on the floor and immediately left the room but that could have gone very differently. The desk clerk did “upgrade” my room and was apologetic.

Great location!

The location was close to my job.

The staff was wonderful, and check-in was quick and easy. However, the bed was uncomfortable, which was disappointing. I’ve stayed at this same location before at full price, and the bed was very comfortable—that’s actually what made me book here again. It seems like when booking through a discounted rate on the booking site, the room quality may not be the same. Overall, the service was great, but the room didn’t meet my expectations this time.
