Hostel Fish

Didn’t stay there: made a reservation and then i got all the way to the front desk and was then told only travelers could stay at the hostel. Also there was a “good cop” and “bad cop” behind the front desk window. One person was easy going and nice. The other sat in the background seemingly hoping people would run into issues so she could energy vamp of there distressed chaotic reactions.

I gave art to one of the people behind the desk AFTER I was denied, when I finally figured out where I was going, I said good bye to everyone behind the front desk to which i received a very callous/cold resonse. I know it’s not cool to be happy these days but……..🤷🏾‍♂️

The bed was super comfortable, and the location was excellent—right in downtown Denver. The air conditioning was really cold, which was great after a long day out. Overall, I had a very good stay and would definitely recommend Hostel Fish to all travellers!

Great location, friendly staff, other customers nice too. There's a bar right inside, and the bed in the King room was so comfortable I almost stayed in the room the whole time. The room wasn't big but it was cozy, and I didn't want a big room. Love this place!

Good location, clean, good vibes

I had booked a dorm bed from Wednesday to Sunday. When I checked in, reception told me there had been some confusion with my booking but moved me into a four-bed dorm for my entire stay. I specifically confirmed more than once that I would not need to move beds and was told everything was sorted. On my final night, at around 1:45am, I was woken by a man pulling back my privacy curtain and trying to wake me up in bed. As a solo female traveller, this was extremely alarming and scary. It turned out to be a member of staff who was telling me that he thought I was in the wrong bed due to a booking error (with another guy, a new guest waiting for my bed, next to him also staring at me). Despite me explaining that I had been in the same bed since Wednesday and had repeatedly confirmed the arrangement with staff, I was left without any clear explanation or reassurance about whether I actually had a bed for the night. The last I heard was around 2.05am with a ‘I don’t know, you might not have a bed because our system is obviously wrong but maybe you’ll be good… I have to check’, without any follow up. Not exactly reassuring. I 100% understand that mistakes and double-bookings happen but this was was handled so poorly. There was no apology at the time, no apology or follow-up the next morning, and no acknowledgement of how unsettling the situation was. Having stayed in (and also worked in) hostels for 15+ years, I've never experienced anything like this. I would much rather have raised this directly with the hostel or through the feedback survey I was sent afterwards, but the survey link didn't work. Nobody asked how my stay had been when I checked out or when I returned later to collect my bags, so I never had an opportunity to give feedback in person. The stay itself was otherwise fine, but this was a genuinely poor and unsettling end to the trip.
