I chose West Quoddy Station (in the Lodge, I believe, first floor) mostly due to the fact that it was close to West Quoddy Lighthouse and it was in an old Coast Guard station. I chose the smallest and most inexpensive room offered, but it was comfortable and spouse and I were happy. It was a bit rustic, but that's what I expected, so that was fine. I liked that several very old Coast Guard things were kept as is, and even liked the red and white vinyl flooring! We appreciated that the owner told us which restaurants would be open and when (for dinner), as in mid-September in Downeast Maine, things begin to shut or slow down as the number of tourists dwindle. The view out back was beautiful, and sunset on the right night would be beautiful as well. The owner (Bill) gave some great information before we came as to things to do and see, which was appreciated.

I suppose my spouse would have preferred a little less rustic and a little more modern digs, but we knew that was not the point of staying there! And the flies were a little annoying. So if you're looking for a more cushy place to stay, you may want to look further, or perhaps not book the least expensive and smallest accommodation offered! But all the basics were there (2 double beds, kitchen & bathroom with shower, clean place, etc.) and we enjoyed our short but fun stay. And I loved being able to walk to the lighthouse.

Easy access to lighthouse and Campobello island. Horseshoe pit and grill.

No access to water for sitting or boating

Location was great for what we wanted to do in Lubec

No housekeeping. Shampoo & conditioner offered in ketchup sized packets. Large bathroom, but incredibly small shower. Shower water alternated between scalding hot and ice cold with no where to go to get away from it.
