Hotel Terrace

I rarely write reviews because, unless there are a large number of reviews, I feel they say are apt to reveal more about the about the “reviewer“ then the property they are reviewing. Moreover, if there are a large number of reviews, I don’t feel my opinion contributes much of anything, versus the consensus of opinions that has been expressed. However, although Hotel Terrace receives good reviews (i.e., 8.0 as of the writing of this review) I believe it deserves a substantially higher rating. 8.0 is a reasonable rating, only if you are comparing Hotel Terrace to four and five and five star properties that charge substantially more per night. Hotel Terrace is a small family owned hotel, which is maintained by the family, who obviously take pride in their hotel’s appearance and the quality of service that they provide to their guests. More specifically, First the “CONS”: * The exterior is… “uninspiring” and unrepresentative of the lodging within; * The appearance of the interior is somewhat dated, but NOT in need of repair, or replacement; * Hotel Terrace does not currently have a restaurant. As you face the front door, the right side of the building had been a restaurant, which had closed, prior to the current owners purchase of the property. However, the owners are currently rebuilding a full service, professional kitchen, and remodeling the dining area. * The front-desk is not open 24 hours/day; and the first time I checked in, it was between three and four in the morning. When I saw a sign on the door that included a phone number and said to call, “April” if no one was there, I had a bad feeling. I anticipated a long wait and that April would be a disgruntled employee who was likely to be annoyed over having been awakened. However, that is where and when the “cons” end and the “pros” begin. The “PROS”: * April was one of the hotel’s owners. She answered the phone almost immediately and arrived at the hotel in under five minutes.

The exterior did not make a good impression.

Perfect location for exploring Baxter State Park.

Location perfect. April was very nice.

Room could us some updates.

No reception, we had to call someone and wait to get access to our room. The main door to the hotel was obviously never locked and had a sign on it saying ‘not locked, just stiff, push hard’ meaning it was open all night for anyone to just wander in.
