About this cottage rental

Dolly Plum Cottage is a detached former agricultural building that has been converted into a delightful 1 bed cottage and is ideally situated to explore the many attractions located in this beautiful part of Kent.
Just off the beaten track but with quick and easy access to the main road and motorway
Standing in its own grounds the front door leads to a bright living area with a bathroom off to the front and a modern well equipped kitchen to the rear, overlooking the large private garden. A narrow wooden staircase leads to the double bed on a mezzanine level - please note this sleeping area is not therefore suitable for those with mobility issues. There is also a double bed settee in the living area.
Off road parking is available next to the cottage and patio furniture and BBQ are available.
Only a few steps from the front door is the first of many footpaths that will lead you into the Weald of Kent or if you prefer to venture further afield, EuroTunnel & Ferry Ports are only a short drive away for a day trip to France not forgetting that it’s just a 40min train journey from Ashford station to London.
Pet friendly. Please inquire before booking if you wish to bring your pet.
Welcome basket on arrival
All of the energy/heating supplied to the cottage is electric. Due to the huge increases in Electric charges we have introduced a fair usage policy to cover excessive use of heating and electric vehicle charging.
Upon your arrival and departure a meter reading will be taken, a £15 per day allowance will be given which should cover most people's needs. Anything above this will need to be paid at departure or deducted from any deposit.

The cottage is small but covers all what you would want from a stay. Comfy area downstairs, sofa, sofa-bed, armchair & TV. Table and chairs for meals inside. Kitchen well-equipped. Good-sized freezer (for all the seafood we bought!!). Good cooker too. Bathroom had a shower over, and although the shower was quite high it worked fine. Water was very hot. As I had sciatica at the time, Gill was very helpful in making-up the downstairs sofa-bed. Only minor problem we had was the light in the very early morning from one window (the sun shone onto the sofa-bed). I'd suggest bringing a mask if you stay in the summer and sleep downstairs. The mezzanine should have been better though, but beware that the steps to it are steep, not for the infirm, like I was at the time! Outdoors had a small table & chairs and another at the end of the large garden, which was nice to sit in the evening and listen to the birdsong. There was a drum BBQ. Lots of indoor & outdoor games. Very quite area apart from the very distant aircraft if taking off to the east at Gatwick (but doesn't spoil the peace really). Two good pubs in the village and a good garden centre/farm shop/coffee place too. Excellent Wi-Fi signal. We used a bus (No 10) into Folkestone & Hythe which stops at the end of the road. The host, Gill, went above & beyond when I left my mobile at the cottage after checking-out. Can't give 11 out of 10 but she was definitely worth it. We would be happy to stay again if visiting the area.

Everything we were looking for..dog friendly, exceptionally quiet, comfortable. Our host Mark welcomed us and showed us round etc. We stayed during the bank holiday heatwave but we still managed to keep the cottage cool, but there is a comfortable sofa bed if the mazanene gets too warm.We self catered for the long weekend but the pub and coop are a short drive away (too hot to walk with the dog) and apart from a cashpoint they were very well stocked with fresh bread and cakes everyday. We cannot wait to stay again.

Although we enjoyed our stay, the cottage wasn't thorougly cleaned, wich was disappointing. There were many dustnets aobove the bed and in many corners, behind the TV, etc... The sleeping area under the roof is rather low, you can't stand up there, so it is difficult to clean, but anyway, it isn't nice when you arrive in a dusty sleeping place. The kitchen was very well occupied, but the extractor hood vettid. In the bathroom is no wall outlet. The livingroom is large and comfortable, but the seats are in need to renewal. The cottage is OK after a good cleaning
