The most convenient airports are those in Dubrovnik and Split. In order to make the most of your trip, we recommend hiring a car - all the main car hire companies have desks at Dubrovnik and Split airports. SEAPLANE CONNECTION The fastest option is to fly to Split airport and then take a seaplane from Split Downtown to Vela Luka (16 minutes trip). For more information please see: http://www.ec-air.eu/en/timetable#type_split. Once you arrive to Vela Luka, villa Katy is 9.5 Km way. FERRY CONNECTION There are also regular ferry services between Split and Vela Luka or from Dubrovnik to Korcula town. a) Flying to Split: a car ferry from Split to Vela Luka goes twice a day, it takes about 2.5 hours to get to Vela Luka (Korcula). b) Flying to Dubrovnik: if you choose to fly to beautiful, medieval Dubrovnik you can drive to Orebic town (on the Peljesac peninsula), where the local ferry to Korcula goes every 30 minutes. It takes only 15 minutes to cross from Orebic to Domince port (Korcula). The Split option is easier, but Dubrovnik is a more scenic trip. Once you arrive to Vela Luka, Villa Katy is only a short 15 minute drive from the town centre. ISLAND OF KORCULA - DETAILS The island of Korcula has many little inlets with pebbled beaches that provide you with a warm and tranquil atmosphere. Korcula is one of the most wooded islands on the Adriatic. It is a typical Mediterranean area with various sorts of flora: cypress, pine, olive, oak, and myrtle. Indigenous herbs and aromatic plants also grow on the island: sage, rosemary, lavender, mint, marjoram etc. The old Roman version of the name Korcula was Corcyra Nigra, the ancient Greek version was Corcyra Melaina, both names refer to the dense pine-woods of the island. One French aphorism says that 'A day without wine is like a day without sunshine'. Sun and wine have always been connected in the history of Korcula. Due to the Mediterranean sunshine, Korcula and Peljesac wines have a specific quality and aroma. The ancient Greeks who founded their colony Corcyra Melaina not only established a commercial and cultural center but also planted vines which have since produced wines esteemed all over the world. OLD KORCULA TOWN - DETAILS Korcula Old Town is a medieval walled city positioned on a oval-shaped swelling of land pointing deep into Peljesac Channel. The city itself is arranged with a succession of narrow streets branching off the spine of the main street like the bones of a fish. The town of Korcula is well known for Moreska – a traditional sword dance and drama that was common through out the Mediterranean in 12th and 13th century, reaching Korcula in 16th century from Italy and Dubrovnik. The golden period for Korcula was between the 13th and 15th centuries, when the old town's present form was acquired through the construction of important buildings; most of these can still be seen today. It was during this period that the Venetians left its distinctive mark on Korcula’s culture and architecture, which has been well preserved for future generations.

We stayed for 1 week in July.. A family group of 7. The location of the villa couldn’t be better - a stunning bay with crystal clear water, very safe for children. There are two kayaks with life jackets for the kids and they loved paddling over to the other side of the bay and snorkelling. The eating area is simply stunning - the perfect spot for breakfast or a lazy dinner. The pool is small but with great views. The two outdoor power showers were excellent. Katy and Tonci had arranged for a local man to bring us groceries each morning so we barely had to leave the villa. The short taxi ride to Vela Luka is so easy and the little town is charming. We had some super dinners, linches and insane ice creams at Diana! This place is a real treat in every way.

Our first trip to Croatia. Nature is stunning. Villa is beautiful and ideally positioned for breathtaking views. Being there out of season means that choice of restaurants and services are limited. But the gorgeous scenery makes up for that!

Villa: Pretty, spacious and well equipped villa, really felt like home from home. Spotlessly clean and well maintained, enhanced by Katy's artistic touches. Grounds: extensive landscaped gardens, choice of terraces, balconies and tranquil spots, beautiful pool area, outside showers, fab BBQ. Add a private mooring jetty and beach area, complete with sun beds and kayak..what more can you want? Setting: on a small headland commanding 270 views of the beautifully tranquil, wooded bays and islands out to sea. Breathtakingly gorgeous. Service: nothing is too much trouble for Katy and her family. Its her home as well as her business. Local Area: Pretty Vela Luka 10mins away by car, Supermarket on the outskirts. Don't miss the daily fish/produce market. Ask if you can't find it! Everyone speaks English and people are v friendly. Car hire and taxi companies couldn't be more helpful. Ferries from Vela Luca to Hvar, Split etc. Plenty of restaurants/bars . Try "Bata" restaurant for excellent local food. Korcula town ("little Dubrovnic" definitely worth a visit) is at the opposite end of island, we found it quite a trip by boat and went by car the second time, which was quicker! Proizd island with its white pebbles and crystal water is a short boat ride away Tips: The mooring at Villa Katy has a lazy line, so you don't need to worry about dropping an anchor. If you are waterskiing from Villa Katy make sure you stay at least 200m from the shore for safety of any swimmers and so as no to disturb the "neighbours" (not may of those about!) Friendly local families occasionally picnic/swim on the adjacent foreshore. The shoreline belongs to Croatia, so they are entitled to do so but they are very careful not to wander onto private land, and are absolutely no trouble. We drove a charter boat from Split to Korcula this year but it was 3.5hrs each way and guzzled so much fuel. Next year we'll catch the sea plane (18minutes) to take the ferry is which is only £7 pp

My family spent one unforgettable week in this villa in September. We have traveled quite a lot and stayed in some pretty special places but this villa is situated right on the most pristine water giving an unbelievable experience! The owner thought of everything in the design of this home. The rooms were beautiful and fully equipped. We spent most of our time outside in the gazebo and on the terrace overlooking the most beautiful turquoise water! I cannot say enough great things about this villa. It is in a perfect location, perfectly maintained and only steps away from the beach. It is truly paradise!! We shall be back. Highly recommended!
