Leandro, the co-owner of this charming Pousada, is on-site every day and sometimes even covers the 24-hour front desk to ensure everything runs smoothly. As a result, the daily maid service, pool cleaning, and complimentary breakfast are superb. Our room was comfortable and included a new mattress, minibar, and whisper-quiet a/c unit. The breakfast buffet offered cakes and bread made in-house. The breakfast spread, which offered customized omelettes and tapiocas, and the 2 ½ hours of available breakfast time are typical of a hotel with 50 rooms, not a cozy pousada with just 14 rooms. Additionally, the physical layout of the rooms is designed so there are no visual or auditory interruptions from other guests, and all the rooms are set back from the street to avoid town noise as well. The Pousada location is perfect, right off the main street, Rua Mucugê, and easy walking to all the restaurants and the beach. I've stayed in many pousadas in Brazil, and this was by far the best organized and with the most helpful staff. Even the pool man greeted us with a smile and “Bom Dia” each day. The employees clearly enjoyed their jobs. One morning when the maid came to our room, and I told her she didn't need to clean, she seemed disappointed. A few hours after checking out, the Pousada sent a text saying I'd left a small personal towel in the room. I was amazed they took the trouble to notify me for something so insignificant. Having the owner recognize his guests every day with a smile is the secret of Pousada Catamarã.
