The owner and his sister in law who run the place are very lovely and welcoming people. The room itself was great, sparkling clean, with daily service and bedsheets changed every other day. Nice large private bathroom, also very clean and functional, hot water shower. Loved the aircon - it genuinely makes a difference, when you're done with scuba diving by noon and you can hide from Nosy Be's oppressive midday heat for a while in your cool and pleasant room. The access to the shared kitchen is a great perk as well, we had access to a fridge and cooking equipment, which allows for more freedom and flexibility with meals or even just morning coffee. There is a table at the terrace to have a glass in the evening. The villa is located just next to a small local market where you can easily pick up fantastic fruit and vegetables sold by local women. The area is safe and quiet at night.
There's nothing wrong about the villa that I can say, except maybe that it's a little tricky to find. It's in reality located about 1 km inland along the main road from the "center" of Ambatoloaka village, the way to get there goes through the Daressalam market. Tuk tuk drivers should be able to find it, see more info in the "tips" section. The only real issue was with a neighbour from the next room over who appears to be a full-time guest at the villa (at least he claimed to live there 6 months out of every year). The part of the villa open to guests is on the first floor, there are 3 double rooms with private bathrooms, which share a common kitchen/dining room. The neighbour from room 2 was an unpleasant, grumpy, rowdy Frenchman, walking around like a sovereign in his little kingdom, holing up in his room with a young local woman, apparently a prostitute. (If that puts you off like it does me, choose another place - it's disgustingly common in Nosy Be to see old white men with young black women, and sex tourism is very much alive.) Back to the neighbour. The man would start drinking at 10 am, shout at his "girlfriend", quietly scold us with mumbled curses (never to oir faces) over the supposed mess we left in the kitchen (by mess, I mean dishes washed immediately after use left on the drying rack instead of being put away wet, or a water glass forgotten on the terasse table). We found, not a joke, that he would hoard and hide away a sponge to wash the dishes. I guess sharing it with others would have been too much of a sacrifice. With a snorting, mumbling bull of a grump hovering and disapproving over your head when you prepare coffee, or biting off rude comments under his breath at least once a day, his presence really impacted our stay. We made a comment to the owner/host. I'm hoping they will have a conversation with the rude grump of a neighbour.

The apartment is fantastic and spacious with cooking facilities which was perfect. The view from the terrace is lovely. Staff didn’t speak great English but they were super friendly and helpful. Location was great.
I didn’t like that the apartment wasn’t that clean. Especially the kitchen. There were also no cleaning products for me to clean up after myself which I didn’t like. Also no soap to wash my hands with.
