Beds and room comfortable. Good location and restaurant open with good beer.
Strange comment by restaurant staff when asking if the wiener schnitzel came with salad and chips about going to McDonald's if I wanted chips. Have travelled quite a bit around Germany and Austria and usually have wiener schnitzel which always comes with chips or potato salad. Perhaps in Hesse it doesn't? A bit uncalled for and unnecessary.

Arrival at the hotel was a bit misleading in that, initially, you eventually find yourself in a carpark between two sets of buildings with very little indication of where to go. Once you have orientated oneself and found the correct entrance all was OK and entry to the room was no problem. The hotel is an extension to the bar/restaurant which was not open upon our arrival and it was not clear to us where we would be eating that night. Mu husband went for a walk to scout the area and returned just as the bar was opening - the initially disappointing arrival then completely reversed direction! The bar/restaurant is clearly well patronised by the locals - always a good sign, and the food proved to be as good as the patronage suggested. A chat with the owner later in the evening revealed that the property has been in his family for over 400years and that he still produces his own Apfelwein (Cider) for which my husband can attest to it's high quality!
The one disappointment was the lack of salad with our main course.

The breakfast was amazing
We were unable to pay at the property because we didn’t see anyone at any stage at the reception and when ringing the number nobody answered. At the end end we were penalised with a no payment fee.
