Wonderful location. I fell in love with my little stoop by the lake, and spent many hours watching the birds, the trees and the sun changing on the water. I loved the privacy and the fact that I could wake up to the waterside. I spent my evenings drawing and painting. I had a couple of minor issues with a window being hard to close and the shower door sticking, and it was sorted out very quickly. The reception staff were kind and friendly, which was important for me as a solo traveller.
I felt that the cabin was just a little too basic. Some low-lighting options to read by in the bedrooms and by the sofa would have made a difference. A welcoming note in the cabin, as well as the list of rules with its threats and sanctions, would have been lovely. Provision of minimal basics such as washing up liquid, a tea towel and a welcome pack of milk, tea bags, sugar and biscuits at least would have helped on arrival. A big problem was the insects. Obviously this is inevitable in the forest and by the water, but some pleasant repellant such as citronella would have helped a lot. The insects invaded the eating and food prep areas, so it was a problem. I think you could attract other artist visitors, so a foldaway table and chair for outside would have been excellent.

Location was great, the lake is lovely and the park and cafe area associated with it was brilliant. The parkrun that went from the park next door was also ideal. The site itself was very clean and tidy and the staff very helpful. We had an issue with the first cabin we were given but the site manager travelled back to site out of hours and moved us to better accomodation.
The communication via the booking.com email system meant that the emails received were in very small font, especially on the phone and so I missed the requirement to pay a £500 security deposit a d when called as we were setting off to the site it came as a suprise. I've given bank details to be held and used if there was an issue, but not had to actually pay £500, with the promise of getting it back after the stay before. Needs to be more clear. Couldn't find a bottle opener or a chopping board in the kitchen and there was an overall lack of equipment.
