Overall we had a great stay at Ferienof Osl apartments - the unit was very spacious, incredibly clean, the kitchen very well stocked which made making meals easy. The location is fantastic as a more affordable alternative to both visit Hallstatt town and enjoy the lake itself. Obertraun is maybe 7-8 minute drive from the town and the various public parking lots.
Two areas of improvement:
-communication: while very nice, the communication with the host was quite difficult and very minimal. We arrived and had no idea how to check in, no signage for a reception and quite literally ended up wandering up to a couple doors as there’s a few buildings on the property. Then used some Google Translate (I believe w the host’s mom) to try and understand where the unit was until the host arrived. Similarly, we didn’t know what the check out process was (the booklet in apartment only had Slovenian) and when I messaged booking - I received a message 24 hours after we’d already left.
Cooling: very few places in Austria have A/C as it’s generally not been needed. Totally understand that. But with more and more heat waves.. it’s really difficult to main this. There wasn’t a fan and opening the windows, even with the lights completely off, resulted in SO MANY bugs that it was impractical. At a minimum, screens need to be added if relying on open windows alone for cooling.

We loved the kid-friendly setting - large pool and playground on premises.
Very spacious room (3 bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher).
Wonderful location (2 mins by car to the lake, 4 mins to Kripplestein cable car, 5 mins to Halstatt), mountains all around.

A very unique property with many pets and animals to play with including cats, bunnies, miniature horses, and chickens. Very friendly and helpful owner.
Unfortunately, there are many houseflies, which could be due to the proximity to the chicken coop. This is annoying as we couldn’t really open the windows or risk having to swat the swarms of invading houseflies. The location is just a tiny bit far from the ferry and train station, but it isn’t a problem since we drove.

Good facilities and appliances. Clean.
Very noisy neighbors (guest)and you could hear everything at 7am…. We couldn’t sleep in as the noises were too loud.
This is a very kid friendly place, so if you are not used to, you won’t be able to rest well.
