Really lovely cottage in the grounds of the host's home. Beautiful gardens and a swimming pool that our daughter loved playing in. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

The bicycle lodge is a very nice location to stay when you are vacationing Cape Town. 35 Minutes with UBER to Waterfront Victoria & Alfred and many more destinations are so close.
We enjoyed beaches as Boulder Beach etc. which are a 35 minute drives as well. Close to the Cottage there little Restaurants and a Gas Station for milk or muffins etc.
We enjoyed our stay in Spring with sunny weather.
Over all we recommend this vacation home very much.

Bicycle Lodge - a perfect summer stay
We stayed in Bicycle Lodge for 7 weeks and had a fabulous time. John and Sharon were perfect hosts - easy to engage with and always helpful. We fell in love with their dog Zoe who has the nicest temperament ever! The accommodation is in a great location with easy access to the coast, central Cape Town, Constantia, local vineyards and just over an hour to Franschhoek. We found the bedrooms to be spacious and beds very comfortable, and overall, the accommodation nice and homely. Sharon and John keep their plot in perfect shape with lovely trees, shrubs and water feature. If you choose to stay here then it would be very hard not to have a wonderful time!

My wife and I just returned from a 10 day stay at Bicycle Lodge, and are hoping to return in the near future. Sharon and John are wonderful hosts, who live in the larger house at the front of the property, and the accommodation is exactly as depicted in the pictures on the website. It's very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. This is truly a home away from home, and the floor plan really works for a couple or a small family. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glassware and we ended up cooking every night for ourselves both because it was so well equipped and we were tired of eating out for a month previous to our stay. There are plenty of good food markets close by too. If you have a car, then Tokai is a very good place to stay since every place you'd want to visit in the Cape Town area is relatively close by. We chose Bicycle Lodge owing to its excellent reviews by previous guests, and we also loved the accommodation, hosts, and location. Many thanks, Sharon and John. Scott & Han

Comfortable family-friendly home
We loved our stay in the bicycle lodge! My husband, myself and our 6 month old daughter were there for almost 2 weeks and we had a wonderful stay. The lodge has a well-stocked kitchen to cook. Sharon has thought of all the touches to make it feel like home. The property itself is beautiful and has lovely outside areas as well. Sharon was very responsive to messages. We hope to stay here again!

Immaculate house with everything you need.
Sharon and John were super hosts, very friendly and informative, the house was in a perfect quiet location but central for all Cape Town activities, a beautiful garden with all sorts of interest and lovely outdoor seating, small pool but perfect for a cool down! Thank you for your hospitality x

My husband and I and our 2 friends have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Cape Town. Bicycle Lodge was a great find, located in a quiet, residential area in the attractive suburb of Tokai. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by John and Sharon, the owners, and their friendly dog, Zoe. The property is spacious and tastefully furnished with good sized bedrooms and plenty of storage space and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and seating areas. We loved sitting on the terrace eating our breakfast whilst watching the wildlife including birds, squirrels and lizards. Zoe would often join us for a biscuit and a tummy tickle! There is a lovely pool ideal for cooling off on warmer days and there are sun beds and small deckchairs with beach towels provided.
We hired a car for the 2 weeks of our stay and explored a lot of the Cape, including the wine route and as nowhere was further than a couple of hours drive away it was ideal for days out. Our favourite places were Kirstenbosch Botanic Garden’s ( just up the road), Boulder Bay to see the penguins, Simonstown, Stellenbosch, Franschoek, Hout Bay, Llandudno, Cape of Good Hope ( but avoid the baboons!) Table Mountain, Bo- Kaap and the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town.
Eating out was an amazing experience as the quality of food and wine is so high and the prices are so low! We tried many of the local restaurants and without exception they were all excellent with friendly service and spotlessly clean. Just across the road from Bicycle Lodge there is a small row of shops and restaurants and we enjoyed wonderful breakfasts and lunches at Bootleggers and dinners at The Brasserie. A couple of miles up the road at Steenberg Village centre is a larger shopping precinct with 2 good supermarkets selling everything you need and a number of restaurants, all of which we tried. Jakes in the Village, The Hussar Grill, Basilico and Fish Market all served delicious freshly cooked food. We also had a lovely final evening of wine tasting at Steenberg Estate followed by wonderful tapas at the BistroSixteen 82.
There are walking and cycling trails around Tokai and John, a keen cyclist, kindly lent my husband one of his mountain bikes and took him for a spin around the area which he really enjoyed.
Overall we had a wonderful stay at Bicycle Lodge and can highly recommend it. We loved everything about S Africa and hope to return again before too long!

Bicycle Lodge is an exceptional base for a stay in Cape Town.
Our second visit. First visited in 2012, always planned to return but our dates were never available, so we made a special effort to reserve well in advance to stay for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year 2018/19.
Sharon and John are brilliant hosts, always available to offer help and advice but never intrusive.
Tokai is an ideal location for visiting Cape Town and the Western Cape. Just 30 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes from the waterfront and 35 minutes from the beach at Camps Bay. The closest beach is Muizenberg, about 15 minutes away.
The Brasserie restaurant and Bootleggers coffee shop are 2 minutes walk away and both are popular locations with excellent food and drink. Constantia Village with it's shops, restaurants and supermarkets is 10 minutes away, and the large Blueroute shopping mall 5 minutes away.
The facilities at Bicycle Lodge are first class, milk and water in the fridge on arrival along with biscuits. The wine rack is fully stocked for you, just replace the bottles you drink. The kitchen has everything you need, Sharon and John have thoughtfully provided a second fridge which increases the amount of food and drink which you can keep cool and therefore reduces the number of shopping trips you need to make. We enjoyed picking tomatoes from John's garden to enjoy with our braiis.
The garden is busy with lots of birds feeding on an endless supply of food provided by John. You might also see a squirrel or two. You will certainly be visited by Zoe the resident dog who is friendly, quiet and loves the attention of the guests.
We loved our early morning walks around the 4.75km perimeter path in Tokai Park which is just 10 minutes walk away and has great views of the surrounding area.
There are numerous good golf courses nearby and it is easy to arrange tee times. On two of our visits to Cape Town we have enjoyed a day watching cricket at Newlands, a first class sporting venue with the amazing backdrop of Table Mountain.
In summary Bicycle Lodge is exceptional and Sharon and John's hospitality was a major contribution to another wonderful holiday in South Africa. We even got married whilst we were there!

Relaxing sanctuary
Thank you Sharon for a relaxing but productive little retreat - I had the space to think and work in your beautiful tranquil cottage. There is definitely something about birds softly tweeting in the morning that is good for ones soul.

Just amazing - everything the other guests have said and more
Sharon and John are the perfect hosts ably supported by Zoe the adorable golden retriever. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we immediately felt welcomed and at home. With great restaurants and within easy reach of the main attractions of CapeTown as well the ability to explore off the beaten track, Bicycle Cottage has everything for a great vacation. We can't recommend this property highly enough, we will definitely be back - thank you Sharon, John & Zoe

Great self-catering cottage in a very good location.
This has been our 10th consecutive stay with helpful and friendly hosts, John and Sharon. Bicycle Cottage, which has generously-sized rooms - two large bedrooms, a large lounge with a kitchenette, a dining room, a bathroom with full-size bath and separate shower cubicle, and a stoep with a Weber charcoal BBQ. The gardens are pretty with access to the owners' swimming pool.
A recent addition has been a lovely fridge-freezer enabling more food, including frozen food, to be kept so shopping trips can be fewer. Parking is on the driveway in front of the double garage. Security arrangements are very good for the whole property.
The cottage is ideally-situated just off Tokai Road. Within 100 yards/metres (an easy stroll) is a petrol station which has a convenience shop and both are open 24/7. Adjacent to this are an ATM, a pharmacy, a hair salon, a wine shop, a bike shop/cafe, a bistro restaurant, a sushi restaurant, and a coffee shop ideal for breakfast/lunch and dinner. Within a few minutes' drive is Steenberg Village with two supermarkets and several restaurants and shops while in a few minutes drive in the opposite direction is the Blue Route Mall.
Slightly further away is the famous and popular Constantia Village on the way to which one passes the Constantia Uitsig Winery which has a fine restaurant and a separate coffee shop/cafe ideal for breakfast and lunch with stunning views of the Table Mountain National Park.
The Waterfront and the Table Mountain cable car can be reached via the nearby M3 in about 25 minutes, subject to traffic conditions, which is about the same time as the drive to or from Cape Town International Airport.
Bicycle Cottage has become our home from home.

This was the second time we stayed at the Bicycle Lodge. We love the laid back atmospheare and the spacious accomodation. It is also the perfect spot to visit Constantia and the lovely wine farms. The hosts arme there if you need them and are a pleasure to work with. See you next time.

Our third rental in the Southern Suburbs and by far the best! Sharon and John were fantastc hosts - nothing was too much trouble - and dog Zoe a delight. The cottage is equipped to a high standard and has everything you need for a comfortable, luxurious stay. Will definitely be returning.

Home from home in beautiful surroundings
We loved everything about Bicycle Lodge from the warm and friendly welcome from John and Sharon to the lovely comfortable accomodation which was ideal for our fortnight's stay. Everything we needed and more was provided including a thoughtful welcome pack and some lovely wine. The garden was lovely and peaceful and a great place to BBQ and watch the birds. We also enjoyed our daily visits from Zoe the beautiful golden retriever. It was a great place to come home to after a day exploring this stunning region. We can't praise it highly enough and would happily return.

Just perfect
Bicycle lodge is a very homely place to stay, it has everything you would need for a perfect holiday, even the owners dog Zoe to make a fuss of.
It's very well located for visiting all the attractions of Cape Town and close by excellent shopping mall with many resturants.
I would highly recommend this property and we are already planning a return visit next year.

Wish we had found Bicycle Lodge a few years ago
The cottage was perfect for us and had everything we wanted for our week in the Cape. Easy drive into the city outside rush hour and only 10 minutes to the False Bay coast. On the Constantia wine route for tastings and good food. Three golf courses within 30 minutes. Sharon and John and Zoe the dog were perfect hosts. All in all a great stay.

Best. Vacation. Ever!
One of the best things about our recent vacation was the cottage. It is in the perfect location to use as home base, yet close to so many wonderful places to visit for day trips. The neighborhood was very quiet and lovely. All the flowers were starting to bloom and waking up to flowers blooming out the window was fantastic (since it was snowing at home!) They have a small place for a car park which worked beautifully. We were able to stretch out and relax when we needed a break. We had everything we needed to make a meal if we didn't feel like eating out. Across the street is a little strip mall with several great restaurants, an ATM, gas station, etc. Zoey was an extra treat to keep us company. We have told all our friends they must visit the Cape Town area. We loved it so much we are already planning our next trip!

Great place to stay!
Our stay at Bicycle Lodge during the 3 last weeks of December 2015 was wonderful. After a long and exhausting flight from Vancouver to Cape Town it was nice to step into a place that felt like home. Rooms are spacious with ample closet space in both bedrooms, the Kitchenette was well equipped and there is a good security system. On our first morning we were greeted by Sharon and John's sweet and docile Golden Retriever Zoe (aka the Love sponge), and our 11yr old son was immediately smitten (so were we). The neighbourhood is charming and walking distance from a gas station and quaint strip mall with coffee shop and restaurants; it's also a 5 min drive from the Blue Route Mall where you will find everything you need. Sharon and John were always there when needed and we have already let them know that we plan on coming back! Thank you again for a great place to stay.

Little piece of Heaven
Wonderful 24 night stay at Bicycle Lodge during cold winter weather in July and August. The lodge was very well appointed, extremely comfortable and easy to find and Sharon and John were wonderful hosts. We were very fortunate in our choice and would highly recommend this as THE only place to stay. Local restaurants and shopping facilities were excellent as was access to all parts of the Cape and the city.
Zoe the dog was a joy and we could hardly bear to leave her.
Thank you for a most successful stay.

A slice of honeymoon heaven
My husband and I loved this place!! Johan and Sharon are amazing hosts and their place is a little slice of heaven!
We loved everything about this place with 2 very nice bedrooms and comfortable beds, kitchen area, TV, pool, bird cage in the garden, and the most fun-loving dog, Zoe to greet us each morning.
This cottage was clean, well kept, and really had everything we needed to make basic meals. We loved the location that was close to the grocery store and shopping center and a quick drive from Steenberg, our favorite vineyard in Constantia wine region! They have an amazing restaurant there that we highly recommend if you plan on staying here. We loved how close we were to all the vineyards, which made for a very fun and memorable trip.
