Hôte très accueillant et soucieux de bien présenter sa maison, le village, les restaurant et tous les sites à voir aux alentours.
Tout était super.
Juste le lit de la troisième chambre est large de 1,20cm.

Gostámos muito desta casinha que nos encheu as medidas. Desde a recepção calorosa do António, aos bolinhos caseiros feitos pela sua esposa. Tivemos tempo para apreciar bonitos detalhes que a casa tem, e sorrimos por isso. Usámos um quarto de três, muito confortável, e a sala que nos pareceu "nossa" por uns instantes. Ficará para a história dos nossos momentos, esta estadia em Óbidos. A vila fica muito perto e proporcionou-nos deliciosas refeições. Gratidão pelo amor contido nestas paredes.

La casa es preciosa, linda decorada, estaba impecable y muy equipada. Su dueño Jõao es un encanto, muy amable y atento… hasta nos dejó unas galletitas exquisitas que prepara su esposa. Me quedé sólo una noche, me habría encantado pasar más tiempo allí.
Está cerca del centro turístico en auto, pero si no tienes auto necesitas usar taxi, uber no funciona. Jõao nos puso en contacto con un taxista de la zona, don Arlindo, que fue un agrado. Nos llevó a todos los lugares que le pedimos y nos dio su teléfono para que lo llamáramos cuando quisiéramos irnos.

Our stay at Casa D Amélia was wonderful. We arrived fully exhausted from our roadtrip and were warmly welcomed by João the owner. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped. João even build many things by himself which gave it a lovely charm of a home and prepared for our arrival some traditional cookies from his wife and the regions special liquor. The village Vau is a small authentic village with great proximity to beautiful Obidos and the Lagune. It was also very safe to just leave the car outside but there is also a big shared patio with a cute veranda. My highlight was definitely the neighbours farm animals which you watch from the bedroom window.

clever and unique furnishings , internet was good, cute well appointed kitchen. peaceful and quiet too!
beds were too hard as mattresses had no spring board under the mattresses. I woukd add a springboard under these mattresses.

João was very friendly and helped us a lot with recommendations. The house is very well located, you have a lot of beautiful places to visit around, the beach is only 10-15 minutes away. ⛱️
The house is stylish and has everything you need, you can see how they put a lot of thought in each little detail. Right in the middle of the nature, in a very quiet location, you can completely disconnect from the day to day life and feel the vacation vibe right away.
It works perfectly for digital nomads as well, you have plenty of space to work from, the big dinning table or even the terrace table outside.

Shower was a bit old. It is not in Obidos but in an aisolated village. One of the 3 bedrooms had a very hard.bed.

- The host was EXCELLENT and accommodating, giving us lots of tips and info about our lodging and surrounding areas. The hospitality was just top-notch!
- Parking was very easy, as you can choose to park in front of the estate or inside.
- Upcycling of wood into usable items in the apartment.
- The water heater did not work well. Without moving the tap, the water can switch from scalding hot to very cold by itself. It made showering unpleasant. Fortunately, it was only 1 night, so all 4 of us made do.
- Sound transmitted easily through the walls, so we could hear our friends in the other room talking whilst we were trying to sleep.

This place is a gem! Beautiful 3 bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen, views overlooking vineyards, a private courtyard, and safe and secure parking on street or inside. Fantastic location close to Óbidos (medieval tourist town), Caldas da Rainha (mid-sized modern Portuguese city, and Peniche (the beach). Vau itself is a charming small town that transports you to another time. This place has it all. Casa D Amélia would be great for families, a home base to explore the countryside, or for a writing retreat. The host João is lovely and actually has made most of the furniture in the property and outdoors from reclaimed items. The decorating is so charming- better than the pictures illustrate. Next time we will be back for a longer stay. Don’t miss out!

João put so much thought and attention in the great hideaway with amazing and creative furniture and decorations made by himself. But that’s not where it ends. He’ll have plenty of tips to share explore the surroundings. We prolonged our stay because of the combination of a great quiet place and so much to do following all great local tips.
