About this cabin rental

Located in Dover, this attractive cabin for $290 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. This secluded log cabin located in the heart of southern Vermont conveniently abuts Mount Snow and the Green Mountain National Forest. Next to the cabin, a cold water mountain stream rushes down exposed bedrock into a shallow pool. Brief immersions into the water are rejuvenating. Relax to the calming sounds of the stream from within the comfort of the screened porch while taking in views of foliage, mountains, and waterfalls from the wrap around deck. A 600' long driveway, with a frog pond located midway up, ensures a quiet and private stay surrounded by nature. The cabin is energy efficient, modern, and comfortable yet rustic and simple in design. Whole house heating and cooling is supplied by a geothermal heat pump. A fiber line and mesh router provides fast and reliable internet throughout all areas of the home. The cabin is also equipped with a fast charging electric vehicle outlet that provides up to 40 miles of charge per hour. Listen to music from the house audio system with in-wall speakers that connect to a phone, tablet, or computer device via wifi. Speakers are located in the great room, loft, and kitchen. Cook food quickly and efficiently on the induction stove while enjoying your favorite tunes. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and dishes. Smart and dimmable lighting is used throughout the cabin. The 60" TV located in the basement room uses an Apple TV to provide access to Netflix and other streaming services - no cable. The Carinthia base area at Mount Snow is accessible either by the widened shoulder along the road, or by a walking trail behind the home. Carinthia is the terrain park portion of Mount Snow with lots of rails, pipes, and jumps. Snowshoe through the back woods or ski-in to the cabin if there is enough snow in the woods. Experts only! The forest behind the home has been conserved. Animal travel from the upland forest to the preserved wetlands and river located across the street can make for interesting wildlife viewing. Beyond the conserved woods surrounding the home is the Green Mountain National Forest where there are fishing, paddling, hunting, back-country skiing, camping, swimming, and hiking opportunities. Somerset Lake, Grout Pond, Mount Snow, Haystack, Bromley, and Stratton are all located within the GMNF. The Valley Trail is located at the end of the cabin driveway on Handle road. This trail leads to Mount Snow and to the trail network located in the town of Dover. The Valley Trail is great for hiking, mountain biking, walking your dog, and coming soon - frisbee golf. Historic homes, trail heads, and the Mount Snow and Hermitage Club ski resorts are located nearby on Handle Road. The Mount Snow ski resort is located 1/2 mile to the north of the cabin and the Hermitage Club is located is 2 miles to the south. Restaurants, ski lifts, lodges, bars, and shops are all easily accessible on foot or by car. The town of Dover is nearby and the town of Wilmington is a 10 minute drive from the house. The cabin has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a loft. There is a bathroom on each floor. Two of the bedrooms each have one queen sized bed, and the third bedroom has a single bed and a bunk-bed. Every bedroom has heating and cooling, as well as a window that opens towards the waterfalls, so that you can enjoy the sounds as you sleep. The cabin was sustainably constructed out of wood logs. It is all-electric with the exception of the clothes dryer. Grid power supplied to the home is sourced primarily by renewable energy. Drive your EV and enjoy an emission free vacation! This cabin is ideal for travelers that want a private, modern, and peaceful place to comfortably experience nature while knowing that their stay has minimal environmental impact. I hope you have a wonderful visit to this Vermont cabin getaway. Well appointed home, in a private location in the heart of Southern Vermont. We visited there at the end of September, and even if the weather was not cooperating, we manage to have a good, relaxing time. The house was also featuring an EV charging outlet, and we took advantage of that. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Comfortable beds, excellent stove (nest induction stovetop I’ve ever used), comfortable couches, spacious, great porches, nice tub. Just wish it rained less so we could use the fire pit but it was fun to see the change in the river. I appreciated the book of info about both the house and the area. Was an excellent stay!

My family and I really enjoyed this quiet and private home in West Dover, VT. The house was extremely clean, which gave us peace of mind. The waterfalls were beautiful and provided a tranquil soundtrack for our stay. Though we did get a lot of rain during our week here, it gave us an excuse to just relax and do nothing. And this house made that pretty easy. It took us awhile to get use to how easily sound travels in the house, but other than that, it was a fairly flawless week. The only other thing that bummed us out was we hardly saw any wildlife, just a few birds here and there. The store around the corner (one minute by car) was quite convenient. We took a quick trip to see the Robert Frost Stone House Museum in Bennington, which made for an easy, enjoyable trip to get out and about. We really appreciated how spacious the house was - there were three of us and we each had our own floor and bathrooms! We were definitely rejuvenated after our stay, and Michael was great to work with.

Wow on everything! Even the driveway is fun! Location is great. Fine dining, well stocked beer/wine market/deli, family food/arcade/bar, and a bunch of other stuff all within a mile or two. The big reservoir is 10-15 minutes away, parking was easy, wish I brought my 6 man raft, very accessible landing there. Jet skis & boats rentable. Creek near the house is gorgeous little waterfall after another. My 3 boys (9-13) and I hiked alongside it up to Mt. snow ski resort. Bugs not an issue in August. Good time! My wife liked dunking herself in the creek. Very friendly Vermonters everywhere. The house is amazing. Off the grid and on the ball. Kitchen is stocked, induction oven rocks, 3 floor audio system, nice laundry, claw foot tub, 3 baths/bedrooms. Screen porch has the view, grill fires up…I could go on. Will likely come back!

A good location with access to lots of different activities. We enjoyed visiting Hogback Mountain for its wonderful views and shopping in the very walkable downtown Wilmington. Mount Stratton and Bromley Mountains were easy drives and offered some fun summer activities including a gondola ride and alpine slide. We had fun hiking and swimming around Pike Falls and especially enjoyed the on-site waterfalls/spring hole for our very own Scandinavian spa experience. The house was comfortable and clean with a great porch. Napping on the hammock was relaxing snd the star viewing was incredible. This house was a great find!

My husband, our college-aged teen and her boyfriend absolutely LOVED Michael's mountain retreat. Besides being impeccably clean -- a MUST! for me -- there was plenty of space for us to spread out and do what we wanted to do, be that play in the waterfall, nap, read, sit on the porch and watch birds, etc. Michael communicated everything we needed to know proactively and obviously has put a lot of heart and soul into this beautiful home. Thank you, Michael, for sharing!
