What a beautiful place with an amazing view!!! Star gazing in the evenings and relaxing on the patio during morning coffee was a really nice treat. House had everything we needed so we could enjoy home cooked meals. Loved every minute of our stay.

We had two couples and enjoyed this home very much. The house is well equipped with supplies. The view is terrific. The location was perfect for our daily outings. We watched movies each night on the projection screen using our Amazon Prime App.. The waves crashing all day and night gave us soothing sounds to enjoy. The separation of the bedrooms and the comfort of the beds made our stay enjoyable for both couples. Some of the home's lighting is a little dim and quirky, but other than that, it was a most enjoyable stay.

Stunning views and interesting architecture. The MCM design was fun as well as awe-inspiring with all the walls and cabinet doors clear heart redwood. Very neat place to stay!

We LOVED this spot. The views are incredible and style of the house is awesome. It's an older place, so it could use a deep clean, but all the highly trafficked areas (kitchen, bathroom, living room) were well cleaned. If you walk ~10min south to the museum in elk there is a little hiking path where you can watch the sunset. I would absolutely come back here again.

Talk about wow! This gem in Elk, California is a whimsical wonderland that will transport you to a dreamy world of ocean views and mid-century charm. From the moment you step foot in this cozy abode, you'll feel like you're in a fairy tale. As you gaze out over the cliffs and watch the clouds roll by, you may even catch a glimpse of a family of deer frolicking in the backyard. It's like something straight out of a storybook! The mid-century style of the house is simply enchanting, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light and showcase the stunning cliff side ocean views. And if you're feeling inspired, whip up a magical feast in the kitchen or fire up the smoker and cook dinner outside on the deck. We will definitely be coming back to this hidden gem!

My girlfriend and I love this place and have stayed several times and we absolutely love it and will stay again. Still, each time we are a little more sad about the lack of attention to small repairs and details that would not only help to preserve this historic home but also make the stay better. The screens all have holes now letting flys and mice in which cold be easily remedied, the chimney is in dire need of a good sweeping and cleaning so that the smoke goes up the chimney and not into the home, a good cleaning of the brick on the chimney front is in order, and one closet door in the upstairs bedroom is off track and needs a simple fix. Also the carpet in the living room and bedroom are horrendous and do not fit the space at all. With all that being said, the home itself and location simply can't be beat. The kitchen is well stocked and the fridge is fantastic as is the separate ice maker. The bed is super comfy and the linens are as well. Also, we have a few issues during our stay and the response from the local Vacasa team was fantastic. Will stay again but really hope some of those minor fixes are made.

We loved the opportunity to stay in this architect-designed home, but there were so many issues that piled up, that we were not really able to fully enjoy the location with all the distractions. Many issues could be addressed quite easily, some with a little more effort and others have just been built-in and or ignored for so long, we can't imagine they would ever be fixed. The deck, arguably the best feature of the house, was littered with rotting planters that were literally crumbling over on their sides and filled with dead plants. The cushions for the deck furniture were covered in mold and mildew, dog paw prints and a tire track(?). The Green Egg grill that was supposed to be included with our side of the duplex was on the other side and not available to us. This sounds like a small inconvenience, however, we intentionally brought fuel and food expecting to use that, and then could not. It's way too heavy to move and there are steps preventing its easy relocation. The kitchen was very well stocked with anything you would need to prepare a gourmet meal, however, there is no exhaust fan over the oven, so the smoke alarm verbally threatened us every time we cooked. Oddly, despite the number of large picture windows, there are just three very small operable "portals" to allow fresh air in besides the sliding glass door. This was also troublesome in the bedroom, as we wanted to hear the ocean waves at night, however the only portal faced the highway which is just a few feet away, so in the morning traffic noises come right in. We couldn't find two matching glasses in the kitchen and there were only about half a dozen in total. There is a fabulous set of Heath dishware. All the appliances had been removed from the countertops and stashed in the pantry (probably the cleaners?), so we had to liberate and rejigger the appliances just to be able to put our food away. The effect of walking into the kitchen with nothing on the countertops made it feel like we were in a house that somebody had moved out of. No welcoming coffee station or toaster like you see in the pictures. Speaking of pictures, many were missing from the walls (just hooks left) and many had been swapped out from the photos you see online. Same with the cool sculptures you see online and the stereo. These are all gone. The stereo has been replaced with a Sonos setup which would be great, if it weren't so disconnected from itself. We had to download an old app to control it and then we had to manually go upstairs any time we wanted to change the TV volume as it was not controlled by a remote. The Sonos, wifi router and subwoofer were distributed randomly throughout the living room with speaker wires and extension cords hanging out all over the place. The subwoofer was literally sitting in the middle of the living room floor. We made a great fire in the one working fireplace in the living room the first night, but the next two nights something caused the fireplace to spew smoke into the house (bad wood?), so that was the end of cozy fires at night (PS, we know how to make a fire and grew up with homes that had fires as primary heat sources, so this is not something we can take the blame for, yes, the flue was open!). It was just the two of us, so we didn't sleep downstairs, but it was musty and the screen door did not operate in its track, so that would've been a problem as well. As others have pointed out, the tub/shower setups are challenging even for able-bodied people. The tub inserts could be replaced with tiled showers that would function so much better, be a lot less dangerous and have no detrimental effects on the design of the home. We both loved the house, but we were saddened that it did not live up to the photos or its potential. We get that it should be preserved as an architectural gem, but not to the point that it is not maintained, refreshed, or u...

Title says it all. The architecture is inspiring, the coastline is picturesque, and our stay was lovely. My only feedback is that the lighting is very dim/ambient so the home could use some better/brighter lighting for reading and games.
