About this house rental
Situated in Elk, this charming house for $350 per night is a great option for your next trip. This family friendly home features 3 fireplaces, with plenty of firewood stacked on the property, ready for your use. The Master Bedroom is on the 2nd floor. It has a full shower and walk-in closet. The second and third bedrooms are on the ground floor. One has a queen bed and ocean view, the other has 2 twin beds. A twin roll away is also available. The second bathroom and additional half bathroom are on the ground floor. The full-size washing machine and dryer are in a closet in the downstairs hallway area. The fully equipped kitchen is upstairs, and features a Jenn-air convection gas range with infra-red heat lamps. Additional kitchen utensils include Keurig pod coffee maker, and we also have a drip coffee machine, waffle maker, blender, mixer - everything you need whether you are making a gourmet meal or a picnic lunch. The dining and living areas are also upstairs and both have ocean views; there is a 3-seater couch and a double reclining loveseat to put your feet up and enjoy nature at its best. We also provide a 40' flat screen Smart TV, Blue Ray DVD, with selection of movies or CD's. If you would prefer to read a book or do a puzzle, we have a variety of genres from which to choose, together with coloring books and board games. There is a small air hockey table on the ground floor, together with an electronic dart board, a pinball machine and a pool table. The front garden is a special feature of the property, with lavender bushes spilling onto the brick walkway and a gas fire pit. Humming birds are regular visitors.

Our stay, 4 women total, was amazing. The views from the second story (kitchen, dining, living room, and patio) of the ocean and the owner, Kim's, garden were gorgeous. The high ceilings upstairs opened the space even more. We had a great time playing pool and darts downstairs and wish we stayed longer to keep playing. We packed a small ice chest and were able to walk across the street to the walk down to the beach. Highly recommend to stay here!

We absolutely loved the property and the beach view. Access to the beach was easy and a fun walk. Love the Deli store nearby. Most of all we loved the botanical gardens that Kim does herself..so beautiful and the house was well equipped. The boys never got board with all the games. Actually we all enjoyed them. Kim is a wonderful host which added to the perfect holiday experience in her beautiful house with stunning coastal views, a family sized terrace, large living room with extra high ceiling and a great games room. This was a beautiful house. Felt like home. So clean, all the amenities you could think of, all supplies needed and then some like fresh half and half for your coffee, butter, etc. Even fresh flowers from the garden. Best host ever! Hope to be able to return someday.

Beautiful home and gardens. Kitchen was exceptionally stocked with everything you could need. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful.
Upstairs balcony is so relaxing and what a view! Highway 1 is at the property's edge but the Pacific Ocean commands your view and, somehow, your hearing, you only hear the waves, it is wonderful.
We all had an extremely relaxing stay, enjoyed the pool table, and would have enjoyed all the other game options but we were happy to just watch one of the many movie options that are offered after a day on the beach and BBQ at the house. Thank you so much - a wonderful time had by all!

Great stay ! The house is wonderful, the views and garden are beautiful, it felt like home and the location of the house so close to the beach is perfect. Kim was very great to communicate with, everything was super smooth and we will definitely come back.

We stayed for a long weekend and it was the first time in a very long time that I feel like I completely relaxed. I spent hours in the garden listening to the birds and watching butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Kim was a very attentive host. As a former florist, I was thrilled to find vases of cut flowers around the house. What a treat! We all voted to return in the near future.

I booked Kim's VRBO for some wedding guests in town for our wedding and it was a great experience! Kim was super communicative and helpful throughout, and her place was spacious, clean and well-appointed with a magical garden. Also very convenient and central location in Elk. Amazing view! Clean and gorgeous property with plenty to do at the house.
The view from the house and the grounds were breathtaking. Fresh flowers in the kitchen. Games, books, and movies. We had all ages and everyone was happy. Very clean home with everything you need. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect place for a family!
This house is amazing and is the perfect place to stop for a few nights while driving up the coast from San Francisco. Probably the best "rental" house we've ever used. Very clean, had everything you need, comfortable beds, nice towels, smart TV and of course the pinball machine downstairs. The VIEW of Kim's amazing garden (hummingbirds galore!) And ocean is to die for. Enjoy some coffee in the morning and some local wine in the evening looking over it all. We didn't want to leave!

A perfect getaway...
We had an amazing experience during our stay in Elk. Kim and John were very hospitable and made the check in and check out process very easy. They made sure we had everything we needed and the home and property are beautiful. I highly recommend them for a getaway along the Northern Coast and we’ll certainly stay again in the near future.

Excellent experience
Very cozy home on a cold, rainy winter night. Home is very clean and beds are comfortable. We appreciated all the little details (like an electronic dart board!), different books and games, and a wood stove well stocked with wood. Market nearby with excellent offerings. A short walk to a public beach with very few people. We have been to this property several times and we are consistently impressed.

Fantastic New Year’s Getaway
There was no better way to ring in our new year than at this beautiful house overlooking the stunning Mendocino coast. Kim was a fantastic host, the views were amazing, and the kitchen was fantastic, we cooked dinner in every night and enjoyed leisurely mornings sipping coffee and gazing out at the sea. We loved the Elk store, and the short walk down to the beach... we wish we could have stayed longer, and we’ll definitely be back!!!

Wonderful Relaxing Stay with Beautiful Views
We had such a lovely weekend by the ocean. Booking was a breeze and Kim responded very quickly. The house was warm and cozy and has every amenity you can imagine! We cooked several times in the fully stocked kitchen and we enjoyed making a fire on the rainy days. On our 3rd day, the sun came out and we walked the 500 ft out so to the cute little market and then down to the beach. Everything is conveniently located though we were there in the off season so the local restaurants were closed but Mendicino was only about 30 minutes away so that wasn't bad and opened up a ton of dining options. Kim was super sweet and an excellent communicator, very helpful! The only bummer was on day 2, we had an infestation of ants. It was strange because there wasn't really any food out and they completely ignored the honey by the coffee maker so I don't know if the bad weather drove them inside or what. There was ant spray at the house and fortunately, they were the tiny ants. By day 3 they had spread into the bathrooms and the spray wasn't keeping up so we walked over to the store and got Terro and that totally did the trick!! I wasn't too bothered by it but it did bum my husband and and our friends out so I felt it was worth a mention. When I was booking, I didn't see any other complaints about it of it so maybe it was just a weird coincidence. All in all, we had a wonderful weekend that we wish lasted longer!!

Marvellous location with amazing views and stone throw distance from beach
Kim is really a superhost. The checkin instructions and directions were provided well ahead. This made this really convenient for us. The house overall is super clean with all amenities. You have an awesome balcony with amazing views of the ocean and sunset. All the rooms are super clean. We would highly revommend the stay

A perfect stay in a perfect place
We had a perfectly wonderful stay at this delightful property, and would love to go back. My husband, daughter and I spent five peaceful days at the Green Dolphin Inn in Elk. It is a very comfortable house with a dramatic view of the Pacific Ocean and some astounding coastal rock formations. The grounds are lovely, with lots of flowers, and during our early October visit we saw many birds in the garden, including quite a few hummingbirds. The binoculars and telescope were great! The house is a very short walk from the beach (just across U.S. 1 and down a path).
The house is immaculate, and extremely well-supplied. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are modern, and all of the appliances worked perfectly. We enjoyed the very well-equipped kitchen, and cooked dinner each night. Kim was very helpful with suggestions for activities and information for grocery shopping, etc., and she was quick to respond to our questions. For evenings there are lots of games and books. We did have some trouble with internet access (none of us was able to maintain consistent access in the front part of the house, although it was fine in the back), but Kim and John helped us sort it out.
Elk is a very good base for visiting the Mendocino coast as well as the Mendocino wine country. While the town is tiny, it has a store (The Elk Store) with just about whatever you might need, including coffee, milk, imported pasta, local cheeses, basic paper products, etc., as well as terrific sandwiches. There are also a couple of restaurants.
It was so easy to settle in and relax - thank you to Kim and John for sharing your wonderful house with us. We hope to return to The Green Dolphin Inn soon.
