Perfect ryokan stay. Room was really beautiful with a lovely seating area overlooking the river and mountains. The staff were amazing and the food was all delicious. Perfect Japanese immersive experience. Thank you

The outdoor Onsen looking over the river was nice and about the only good thing. The walk down the gorge was great. But the hotel felt it was from the 1970s, was worn out and tired, and not terribly clean. We paid 60,000 Yen for a basic Japanese room, with dinner and breakfast. This was ridiculously expensive for what it is. I would not recommend staying here unless the price was at least one quarter of what we paid.
The Japanese banquet food was visually stunning and a very refined taste, but actually somewhat bland. We were seated in what felt like a huge empty bleak cafeteria, and it had no windows. There was a restaurant up stairs with stunning views over the river and forests, but we were not given that choice.
The futon mattresses, on the floor, consists of two or three half inch, ancient and stained bits of foam, so thin and uncomfortable that we had to get more out of the cupboard and make it ourselves.
There we no welcome drinks, but some free soft drink in paper cups in the lobby, There was no coffee in the room only green tea, which was unusual compared to all other places we have stayed.
All in all, I feel disappointed and ripped off.
